“There are no prohibitions against having audio equipment in the arena,” an NBA spokesman said.

According to a league source, the decision to employ the microphones was made to protect the combustible Anthony from another “he said-he said’’ dispute by having an audio record of what’s said on the court. The carefully calibrated mics transmit audio feeds into recorders in trucks on the Garden loading docks.

Imagine if your boss at work had super sensitive microphones trained on you every second while you were on the job. Yea, that is the perfect environment to feel comfortable in.

I already have that, dont be surprised but most jobs do.

That's a bad comparison, unless your job is performing in a public area where you are being taped anyway.

I don't why people eat this garbage up.

That's interesting and I always wondered about whether or not there were mics all over the place, like lecture hall and at work,

What industries do you guys think are most often 'mic'd up'?

Who said it was a problem with the league? Once again it only sets up Carmelo to the extent you have to hear and know what comes out his mouth which I'm sure isn't Sesame Street caliber.

lol @ the edit jobs that would proceed from this.

We already know Melo yells "Oh Shyt!" everytimes he goes for a layup or rebound in traffic.

Probably averages a league high 3.5 "Oh Shyts!" a game.

Since it was implemented during the Bulls game Carlos Boozer has Melo beat with the...."Oh Cot Dayums"....

Boozer will never see the light of day now Shu Program Pelican Bay....Dolan is putting cases on all these beeyotches while he snitches

I guess a lot of players are going to get fined and suspended once the Remixed Demo Mix Tapes are sent off to Stern with exception to Melo and our players...lol

I want to big up Dolan too for tipping his hand(what we're the master of) going Emilio Esteves and Richard Dryfuss style. Now players will simply "trash talk Melo at Midcourt" or "Whisper" sweet nothings to him at the free throw line and/or near baseline.

Pure definition of retarded and fits the personality of this team.

I think Dolan is doing a good thing and receiving unfair criticism in the media. Hopefully it prevents players from penetrating Melo's skin which we already know is thin. Especially now that teams will attack Melo's weakness. Makes sense why Dolan will record the Bulls game after the Celtics.

I just hope Dolan doesn't expect the league to do anything about the trash talking. Trash talking is not against the rules

This is kind of confusing. You're saying that Dolans doing this is the hopes that players will stop trash talking Melo. You then acknowledge that trash talking is not against the rules. The players surely know this. How would that help then?

Knicksfan: Hypocrite league that fines players after the game for flopping but in the game and with obvious flopping they call the fouls.

Players will watch what they say to to avoid fan and media backlash.

The personal attacks on family and racist trashing talking will be minimized knowing that whatever you say on the garden floor will not stay on the court and can be made public. Hurting your image and endorsements.

Ideally you don't want your franchise player to lose his composure over words but not everyone is the same. This will help protect those who have thinner skin

By the way Melo has made his take on the situation.....

LONDON -- Carmelo Anthony has no problem with New York Knicks owner James Dolan recording his conversations on the basketball court.

The team's owner ordered technicians at Madison Square Garden to install microphones at either end of the court for last Friday's game against the Chicago Bulls in the wake of the recent incident involving Kevin Garnett that led to Anthony's one-game suspension.

League sources have told ESPN that the move was undertaken to protect Anthony, rather than "spying" on him.

And the player involved insists he has no problem with Dolan's decision.

"I got an owner that looks out for me," Anthony said at the Knicks practice on Wednesday in London.

"You can't beat that for an owner to try to protect their players, to protect his players. It just shows how much loyalty Mr. Dolan has."

So that's that the player has spoken and he appreciates it, no issue, no embarrassment, that's all there is.

Lol,

not to rag on Melo,

but does anyone see anything wrong with this?

imo, the right mindset would be to say "I don't need anyone looking out for me, I handle mine"

but Melo is actually welcoming this nanny treatment, smh

and I know Melo doesn't have a choice here, Dolan will tap the woods either way you slice the gouda,

but it's all about Melo's mentality, which has been exposed again,

this guy all the talent in the world but he gives me nightmares as a fan, because I fear that the cracks will really start to come apart in the playoffs

Nah, didn't see an issue before, don't see one after.

This is entertainment, these guys aren't warriors on a battlefield, they are actors reading a script.

if you don't see an issue with Melo in this situation, then you too are of the same mindset as Melo,

It's entertainment but the entertaining is derived from battle, literally. sports is war where the contestants go home with their lives, the same qualities that make a good soldier make for a good pro baller.
