Great post...to flesh this out, we essentially traded Zach, crawford, lee, and two lottery pics just to have the OPTION of signing lebron james and another big free agent. That strategy failed, and all we had to show for it was Amare, who is broken down.

Thats the reason why we had to rely on older talent...not the melo trade. We gave up mediocre talent for a top 5 player in his prime. Get real. The cupboard was bare when melo was traded her, because of the mismanagement of the previous regime.

we gave up good young talent and future picks and cap space for an overrated scorer... period.. stop trying to mitigate that mess of a trade by knocking what we gave up.. jeez

amare I have no problem with, he didn't cost us any picks or players, he was great when he got here, we took a risk, I liked lee a lot, but we then started compounding errors after the carmelo trade.. had we just been patient, heck we could have used the amnesty on amare and continue to build young with our kids and picks... heck we could have been a player when harden became available...

we have this old team because we wanted to maker sure carmelo was happy and got his shots.. we are now the "old" denver nuggets... smh

Gallo. Moz. and wilson resemble your posts. They suck. You guys all belong together.

Im good with my top 5 player

Denver forums are >>>>>>>>>>>>>>> that way, friend.

While over there you guys can try to figure out strategies in how you are going to compete for an 8th seed, and try to answer how you can become contenders with all the bunch of veteran role players. Denver is officially on the 6-9th seed nba treadmill with no end in sight

i liked jamal a lot,and zach I didn't like as a team player at that time, but I appreciated his work ethic.. with that said... knicks had to rid themselves of those guys.. just not the right environnment for them and we needed the cap space.. jamal needed to be a 6th man, but wasn't goint to accept that role on a knick team in which he was probably the second best player... zach needed more structure and the knicks at that time was a zoo... bad timing for both players... we needed the purge..

You insipid posts are a pain in the arse. Thats the only pain I can think of here. Im good. Dont trip. Sounds like you're projecting about your pain of not being able to get over the trade of certain mediocre euro two guard, that we bounced outta here for a far better player.

Woulda, coulda, shoulda, is a pipe dream. It started with the love fest with leBron , we gave up Zach, Crawford, and Lee. with the dream and thought we had a chance with LeBron. Well we didn't. What we gave up to get LeBrom was a bigger Loss then what we gave up for Melo. At least we got Melo but for Zach, Crawford, Lee, we got nothing. New York is a Pressure cooker and a lot of guys doing well on other teams can't handle New york.I doubt if LeBron could. What ever you think of Melo and I know you don't like him but without him we go no where. The players we gave up was nothing to brag about. But just imagin Zach Randolp playing along side with Melo.

We got Amar'e, who got Felton and Melo, who got JR and Tyson, who got Kidd, Camby and Sheed. Fair or not, Zach Randolph and Crawford were not draws to other players.

And I get so sick of this blazing hypocrisy and revisionist history. People HATED Zach for his lack of defense. They spent Jamal Crawford's entire stint here blasting him for shot selection and poor defense. People wined none stop about 'Avid Lee' and his complete lack of D. Without signing Amar'e and letting Lee go, Melo and Tyson wouldn't of signed with us (or Kidd or Sheed etc)- that is a fact that they have both stated.

People will ignore this just like they ignore that, despite having a lot of injuries and melo is still playing hurt along with brewer and that amare is working himself back, that we are 1 game behind Miami. These lineups are not close to what we will see down the stretch. This is really weak, we go through a rough stretch and the melo trade is coming back to bite us???

Again only players we lost is an inconsistent gallo, moz, and chandler who haven't seen the court this year! We have our draft pick this year, so we will add another player. Like I said, both of our starting guards are out right now ... I just don't see the big deal.

But I'll make sure to bookmark this for later. Enjoy!

I am all for Melo over all those guys but the issue is that we gave up all flexibility and assets for 1 player and it hurt us in the long run. Need to win the chip this year because who knows where Dolan will take this team in 2yrs

What assets??? That's the problem... A lot of posters throw around assets and flexibility but look at this from a business standpoint. Is moz tradeable? What can you get for gallo? Right now no one is trading for chandler. So what assets? Flexibility? We let those players go to get a star just to be in this position again signing a max player. Not to mention you don't get Tyson Chandler or Jr.

Also the reason for JR signing for less this year was so we can hold his rights. Jr will be here, please read what he says ... Money is not that important ... He's finally playing for a coach and team he loves.

Melo and chandler both have another good 5-6 years
Shump looks like he's recovering well
Felton is only 28!
We have our pick this year (but who really cares the upcoming drafts are weak unless u in the top 5/10)

The problem is Amare only because he's not playing no where near his contract. Instead of using the amnesty on billups, should've been amare, sign chandler still and have billups coming off the books which would've allowed us to sign 2-3 nice pieces.

Also agree we shouldn't let Lin walk, but everybody is blaming the melo trade when actually that was the right move.

trading for carmelo was not the right move...

Trading Lee for Amare was a head scratcher and now it clearly looks like a bad trade. At the time, it did appear that Amare helped us to attract talent. The knees were and issue and now we are seeing what Phoenix was worried about.

I am not so broken up about the Melo trade now. Like many of you though, the Lin debacle was just that. You don't let talent like that walk. I can't believe he is only making 5 mill this year (5+5+15 = I take that).

Papabear Says

As much as I Like Melo the Lin project would not have worked with Melo and Lin on the same team. Melo would not like the idea that someone on the team like Lin would be more popular than him. This is a fact. That's why Lin really is gone besides Dolan getting mad and Woody would take sides with Melo than Lin. I doubt if Lin would have started. If Dolan really wanted to get even with Lin he should have signed Lin to the 25 million and then shut him down and by the 3rd year do a buy out and lin would have been a thing of the past. Lin new it wouldn't work in New York. New York believe in hype and would have made it impossible for lin and Melo to play together. There could be only on alfa dog in New York and that was Melo.

Careful comments like that about Melo get you in trouble eventhough it may be true

Papabear Says

Hey I'm not hating on Melo. It's true and if I was Melo I would feel the same way. How can some kid come in here and play six - 8 games and become a hero and I played in the league for 8 years and not get that kind of props. Sure I would be pissed because I am the alfa dog. Not disrespect Melo. If I had a choice between Lin and Melo. It would be hands down Melo. But you know how the New York Press is, they would make Lin a folk hero. Plus the New York press plays a big part in chasing great players out of New York.

Thanks man! Much better than being called a hater even though I praise the team when things go well. No question we are in a funk and not this bad nor were we as good as 19-5. As a fan who stuck with the team through all the dismal years I really hope we win it all this year. We have a chance if we are healthy in April that's all I could ask for. This is our year unless Shump turns into Spree/Wade and we steal a player with a late first round pick if not then the future is very bleek

lots of battered-wife syndromers is how you break it down. ironic that dolan runs things and yet he is so obviously a milquetoast, but when you have money it can insulate you from personal defects. dolan is not interested in winning he is interested in putting asses in seats regardless of the actual quality of the team. he also loves stars. and he surrounds himself with yes-men. dolan always finds a way to alienate or force away good people.

the fish rots from the head down.

knicks win 38-43 games in 16-17. rose MUST shoot no more than 14 shots per game, defer to kp6 + melo, and have a usage rate of less than 25%

Going by your logic, I dont see how anyone can have "battered-wife syndrome" worse than those who dislike/hate this team yet still continue to frequent message boards dedicated to it

Now they are gods, while people blast the players we do have. Its the same c*** over and over! AAAAARRRRRGGGGGGGHHHHHHHH!!!

a boatload of money got us amare, money got felton, money and stupidity got us carmelo, money got JR and money sure as hell got us tyson chandler.. a 3 year deal and money got us kidd, a ridiculous trade got us camby....

And AGAIN I call out the Melo trade haters and I get no response. AGAIN,HATERS, you come up with all the trades that you think were made wrong and tell us all what our team would look like RIGHT NOW. Or is that asking too much from a small bunch of yous that keep saying,we shoulda done this, coulda done that, woulda never done this. IM CALLING OUT THE HATERS RIGHT NOW. Sorry Martin and Andrew but this is getting to the point that these guys HATE but dont back up their hate with facts. We all know dolan and its his team and he does what he wants and we all dont agree with SOME things hes done so haters if you were dolan what would have you done different?

Maybe if you stop generalizing and calling everyone a Melo trade hater they might respond, maybe, not sure, good luck

This franchise is essentially over-leveraged like a bank - and they borrow against tomorrow for a mediocre today.

Letting Lin go for nothing is just one more example of mismanagement.

Signing Amar'e when we missed out on Lebron - another move that might have been better played by keeping Lee (possibly at a home team discount?) rather than signing a star just for the sake of making a move.
