knicks win 38-43 games in 16-17. rose MUST shoot no more than 14 shots per game, defer to kp6 + melo, and have a usage rate of less than 25%

1. There is nothing that KG can say that justifies losing your professional conduct. Its a game. Its not like KG personally knows how La La tastes. If he did, then its personal.

2. Even if KG is talking about Derek Fischers kid who is a very sick child, you don't lose it. You deal with it off the court via the proper channel. If KG does it off the court, then its a different story. KG says it because of the game. To get in your head. Its because of the game. Melo been in the league 8 years and knows KG is will do it. The thing he said to Charlie V. was eventually made public and KG looked bad because of it. Maybe he don't care. Who cares what a dumbass says anyway.

3. Im kind of glad players still do this instead of this fraternal nice thing all the time. Im old school and players should not like each other. I have heard MJ say some real nasty stuff to team mates and opponents. I think MJ who was friends with Mugsy bogues about ruined him VERBALLY. Its the game. Im glad players want to win.

4. Nalod been married 26 years and my wife is attractive and gets hit on from time to time over the years. Maybe if my wife cheated on me or my marriage made me feel insecure I'd feel different.

How can the Commish really address this without laughing? Its pretty damn funny if you ask me. Childish. Even more so the way Melo reacted. Please tell me there is more to it?

6. You in the mecca, you being cheered "MVP--MVP--MVP", your praised by Bernard King, Your tutored with manhood guidence by woodson, and the big bad Celtics are in town and you freaking lose it by "honey nut chereos"?

"Its a honey of an oat, its honey nut cheereos".

Do you feel what KG allegedly said as "professional conduct?"

We don't know exactly what was said and what wasn't. We don't know how far he went or even if the cheerios comment was a part of it. Also, we don't know that Melo went to see him to fight. Maybe he was there to tell him off or get something off his chest. Whatever the case may be, I agree that Melo should have handled the situation better. But you're letting KG off the hook here. There really are no rules to hold KG accountable in this situation but it doesn't mean that he should be given a pass to make abusive personal comments about people's families. People call it gamesmanship, but what about sportsmanship?

Question: is there a rule that says a player can not meet a player from an opposing team at the bus? Honest question here.

It's pretty disgusting to me that all day I've heard sports pundits 'praising' KG's verbally abusive, vile behavior. "It worked!" "He took Melo out of the game!"

So I guess he should continue making nasty, horrible comments about other players - calling them cancer patients, insulting their dead parents, insulting their wives. And everybody in the league should just shut up and take it. Because THEY will be the ones criticized and KG will be slapped on his punk-ass back.

As for me, I will cheer on the day someone knocks that guy on his ass. Maybe then he'll finally STFU.

I agree with you Diva!

Lets get someting straight, I hate KG and the Celts.

All I know is what I see. I think the knicks are a better team and I watch to see a good game and root for the team to win. Not watch Melo lose his cool. I don't care what KG said.

Whats off limits in my book is:

Family members terminal illness or fighting for lives.
Miscarriage. Children. unable to concieve life. Cancer.
serious stuff.

What is a player to do. Get off the court, tell the ref, have ref deal with coach. sit the player. If it escalates to a brawl and spills to ticketholders, who are sitting courtside then its a problem.

We know KG is coo-coo for cocoa puffs and out of his mind. A mean man.

Knicks lost to a lesser team because of star player lost his cool.

Lets not be thin skinned fans either, they beat us. Its not "fair" but Boston wanted a road win.

So this "Honey Nut Cheerios" thing is just an unconfirmed Twitter rumor, right? I went to look for a source, and found this (unintentionally?) humorous article:

http://www.ibtimes.com/honey-nut-cheerios-twitter-jokes-over-kg-melo-fight-what-does-carmelo-anthonys-wife-lala-taste

See, this is the reason why I wonder why these athletes are on Twitter, considering the vile things are said about these guys by random strangers worldwide every day. I gotta admit, I'm not sure I'd be able to ignore the hate without responding, or taking it too seriously. Come to think of it, hasn't Melo fell victim a Twitter War/"I was hacked" PR retreat?

Wish Melo could have followed Clyde's example here. I can't fault him as a human for letting someone get in his head, but I wish he didn't do it as our best player. He's a veteran, and KG is a hamstring pull away from being a really loud cheerleader for the rest of his career.

KG is a jerk. Maybe he overheard His Airness on the court as a rook and figured "that's what I need to do to be the best". Give me the Big Boring Expressionless Fundamental over all this "I'm a warrior" screaming and chest-thumping any day, all day.

Question: is there a rule that says a player can not meet a player from an opposing team at the bus? Honest question here.

the distinction between sportsmanship and gamesmanship is a good one, i'll grant you that. in fact in basketball there's room for both... but there is no mandate for both.

i was reminded last night that garnett was trained by mchale. most posters don't remember the wars of the 80s. no love lost between rivals. red auerbach did not coach his players to be good sportsmen, and neither did red holzman. chuck daly did not coach his players to practice sportsmanship. they had a policy to mercilessly butcher jordan and they did. and you can bet doc rivers, who played during that era, has little interest in his players making nice with the opponent.

melo wants to be comfortable-- he wears body armor to stay comfy-- so the policy is to make him uncomfortable.

NBA rules of conduct does site unsportsman-like conduct several times: taunting, hanging on the rim, disrespecting officials it goes on and on. Anyway...obviously this is a grey area where the rules aren't clear.

The point is, if he did make personal remarks about Melo's wife and whatever else, in this situation why praise KG's distasteful tactics when he clearly does not know what is off limits? Trash-talk is a part of the game but there are some things you just don't say. Why encourage such vile habits in others? In the name of a basketball game? What about respecting the game?

I was not fully on board with Coach Woody last season but one thing really stood out to me and made me take a liking to him:
There was a game where we had secured the win and there was no way the other team could make a run, and JR dunked the ball with a few seconds remaining. Woody pulled him out immediately and let him know that was wrong. Because it was unsportsmanlike and it disrespected the game.

It comes down to what you value at the end of the day.

You are such an ***hole how would you like it if some one said something about your wife if you are married. Then on top of that he tried to injure Amare. I guess we should ignore that too. I thought to win ball games is to be the best that you can be as a sports player on the field of compitition. What about golf, baseball, track, swimming, spelling bee ?? Talking about someones Wife or Mother or child gets you one up on the competition?? Man you are sick.

It's clear the majority wanted Melo to do this to KG

JAMES DOLAN on Isiah : He's a good friend of mine and of the organization and I will continue to solicit his views. He will always have strong ties to me and the team.

You guys are so silly. Grown men here don't understand that Melo, a 28 year old, is going to prioritize some things in his life as important than winning a regular season basketball game.

I don't give a Damn what KG said, Melo getting paid $20 Million and was brought here to win a championship. KG and the Celtics basically own the Knicks, and Melo gonna let KG get in his head like that???? He betta brush that s*** off and play ball! KG don't care about your "feelings"!

IMO there had to be more then KG saying "your wife taste like Honey Nut Cheerios" to warrant that response from Melo. KG must know someone that was with Lala before Melo who told him such. Especially being that specific or he would just sound like a clown saying it. That would make more sense why it would strike a nerve to that level. If there was a history to that verbal assalt.

Better this happen now during the season then late in the season or playoffs.

So if you co-worker started telling you what your wife/mom/sister tastes like you will brush that **** off and go back to your excel sheet cause you get paid? If you do, thats how you do things. But not me. I couldn't brush that **** off and go back to my job. So I can relate to Melo and give him a pass on this one.

On the playground you play for recreation, pride and protect your turf.

In the worlds most famous arena there are people paying serious coin to see the game. Advertisers pay serious money to represent their product.

On the court KG yapped away but stayed cool. He wants to win the game and is paid very well to deliver.

Melo took it personal.

Thats not cool and not why he gets paid 20 mil.

It never escalated into a confrontation so I doubt he gets suspended. Im fine with a fine cuz its not my money.

So winning is what is important? You don't care what someone says or how they react as long as the team wins? So if Melo reacted that way and the Knicks won the game, you would be ok with it?

Unless the Sensei is a sadist, he would have told the student what was expected of him? Therefore, there seems to be a flaw in your question.

the fact that you can't even have an unrelated thread without some tool here bringing him up make me think that rational minds are few and far between. Bunch of emotionally weak, angst riddled people. I mean, how many times can you argue the same shyt

waiting outside the locker room and bus accomplishes what?

It's amazing, I know youre a Melo hater but c'mon dude some sh!t deserves a beatdown for real (just like Kam tried to do to that old man at the pick up game) Also, I like how you have set up a "zero sum" scenario in regards to Melo, where theres no way for him to "win". If he had passively accepted KG's taunts and taken the high road he wouldve been branded a wimp & thus not worthy of being the go to guy on a contending team. He's in exactly the same position that Pierce (team cancer) & LeBron (cant win the big one) was before they won. Becoming a champion and apparently washes away all warts

I just don't get why people think you have to fight back if someone makes a mean comment. I'd actually feel sorry for someone who was so disturbed that he had to make comments like KG did.

Bonn, when someone says something to me that I think is maybe a little funny or mean, I pummel him on the spot, I do not go to his bus stop and wait for the bus to come,

In all honesty, Melo comes out of this looking like a punk while Garnett, KG is what you know he is, a punk, and Melo let himself get punked by KG...if Melo had such a problem, should've layed him out on the court, not wait to go to talk to him later, there is no takling, there is only punching

Do you really? How many physical altercations have you been in as an adult? Are you sure this is a characteristic of you that you should be proud of?

Alright you got me, I don't really do any of that stuff.

And that's the thing: unless you beat the guy senseless immediately after he runs his mouth, you LOSE if you react in any way later, which is why it's best just to keep playing and drop mad buckets on his head, that's the best way to handle it,

If you don't react with physical force instantly after KG crosses the line, then you LOSE, because the talking and waiting by the bus is a passive type of response: KG ALREADY KNOWS that you won't fight, because if you are willing to fight you would have done it, that's why MELO got punked by KG

If Melo didn't react and just dropped buckets, that's just like beating him, you have one of two options in this situation, when KG says your wife is honeynut oats:

1. You beat him immediately
2. You drop mad buckets on his head
