Look at Melo and see what he does for the team to win... in games, in locker-room, in off season.
Is he capable of anything but be melo and put the ball in the hole?
Some fans think this is all that bbal star should be capable of.
Yep - Melo can do this, so what?
He loses badly and then he has his melo smile and he is cool.
Is it what we Knick fans want?
I am waiting for him to get angry, to get on the teammates, to get on the coach, to get on himself.
I waiting for him to stop being cool and be a man.
Hope dies last.
Hahn said Melo and D'Antoni had similar personalities. D'Antoni was never going to yell at his team vets or lead through communication or prepare his team other than running his system. I think Hahn is right in regards to Melo. Melo isn't the coach but from what I have observed and read he is not a leader like a Kidd, Billups or LJ. However, he is a player on a team so he doesn't have to be the leader. Ew was always a tri-captain. I do think Ew would let guys know if they were messing up but I don't think he was a great leader/communicator either.
I agree Melo doesn’t have to be the leader of this team, at least not yet, however, as a good teammate; he should respect and support the decisions of the coach, which ever they are. He should not be forcing himself into the offence by breaking designed plays in order to accommodate his Super Star ego.
If Melo cannot be a great leader yet, at least be a great supporter, if things don’t work out, at least we could say that he tried everything possible.
And this brings us back to the main issue - to be great team need a leader, The Captain.
This persone cannot exist in Dolans world. Because Jimmy will became little agly animal in the shadow af any leader.
Thats why untill he is an owner you will see Woodis, Groonis, Melos and other soft dudes around this club.
