I agree that Melo has accomplished nothing more than make a few all star games and visit the top 10 scoring leader board every year.
But what if we win? What if the Knicks are in the conference finals? I actually think there is a good chance..
fish, I have my reservations, if we get to the confrence finals, it will have to be amare playing amazing ball or jason kidd turning the clock back.. ultimately, we will be an iso team and I expect melo and JR to shoot us straight into hell.. but we will see.
oh.. trust me, I gave up hope with this team sometime after the Larry Brown saga. Walsh ushered in an era of normalcy but we all knew that was too good to last.
JR is garbage. His amazing scoring/shooting outburts actually hurt, because for each one of them you can count on a pair of games where he shoots 3-13.
What is promising is Amare bouncing back to top 10 NBA player form he was before last year's misery and Felton's chemistry with him. Especially if he's in shape, and its looking like he will be and very motivated that will be a big bonus for us on both ends of the ball.
Felton is a north south PG and also really thrives in transition. He's going to be the starter and thats a huge plus for us.
At this point in my Knick fandom I just call it like I see it, and here is what I see:
I see a team that on paper has the pieces to compete for a title. Two all star scoring forwards. Next to them the defensive player of the year at center. Backed up by two defense first guys in Camby and Kurt.
The defense is improved with Kidd/Felton in the backcourt and that combo will be stable. Felton's chemistry w/ Amare a huge plus.
This team has the talent. It has the pieces. Will they = or exceed the sum of the parts? That remains to be seen and its a huge challenge but for once, the talent is there.
So is the pressure. ITs a win now team. Its also not a terribly interesting group in any way shape or form to watch for 82 games, but those 82 games should offer some insight as to how the squad comes together (or totally explodes)
