Some people are hypocritical. I hated the contract we gave amare but I thought it was necessary to sign a star to climb out of the hole we were in and become relevant again. I thought the Melo trade was the "safe" trade that would land us a 2nd round exit every year but if we somehow miraculously got a guy like cp3 we would be contenders. Developing talent is fun, I love Gallo and miss him, but I also wanted to win, and star players, real star players are hard to come by. I think you pull the trigger when you have the chance and deal with the consequences. It's just a matter of determining which players are the true stars, and that's a line everyone draws at different spots. With Lin, there really is no downside for the team, and I'd think Dolan would easily profit from more linsanity, because even if he's just a solid player, he'll be very marketable.
