I'm with you. And, unless this is a sign and trade, we're using the MLE on him.

Its terrible JASON KIDD IS 39 let that sink in. We gave him 3 years he will be 42 when his deal ends. Jersey sales will be good though

What does it matter that we gave him a 3-year deal? We are clearly on a 3-year plan with this. Won't be under the cap before 3 years is up so it has no effect on future flexibility. In 3 years this team will likely do a slight rebuild around Melo, Lin, and Shumpert.

He does have an effect on future flexibility. If we go over $74M, and right now before anyone has actually been signed we're only about $14M away from that number, then we only have the $3M mini-MLE to work with. No full MLE and no LLE.

Sl you saying the knicks shouldn't have used the lle kr mle at all then?

No, I'm saying we need to use them on the right players and I don't think Kidd is the right player.

Felton would cos problems it would be like Sanchez/Tebow. Media would destroy Lin after 1 bad game and write about why Felton should start

I wasn't really on board with Felton either. There has been no mention of OJ Mayo since Memphis declined to give him the qualifying offer; I want to know what's going on with him and if we have a shot.

I loved felton when he played here a couple years back but he thrived in MDA system and hasnt really thrived anywhere else also his weight gain concerns me. I know Kidd is older but we are talking about one of the best pg's in the last 20 years or so who can do well as abackup i feel even at his age.

Six Things Jason Kidd will do:

1 - rebound

2 - deliver the basketball to Amar'e Stoudemire, and everyone else, in rhythm

3 - coach, and be heard

4 - send a clear message to Jeremy Lin that life go on... and Houston is NOT New York City. Take it or leave it.

5 - raise the bar for Tyson Chandler to develop one low post move.

6 - make the Knicks halfcourt offense a thing of beauty

Kidd passes, rebounds, and defends well. What does Mayo do well?

He'll always be a Net to me. Still not over the way he used to beat us on a regular basis.

This is good if we have plans on retaining lin..

And BTW, Felton wasn't just a PnR with Amare pg, he penetrated and dish to the baseline three with either chandler or gallo...So much that the WSJ wrote an article on the knicks about that spot up three.

Younger, better shooter, and he's not terrible with the ball in his hands. Basically, he's a better version of JR.

Kidd is Nyet a Net. Kidd is a Knick! A good signing especially if it is a sign and trade - Can include Toney Douglas and Gadzuric(total $3.4 mil)

But are we still in the mix? That's what I'm most concerned about; how does signing Kidd affect our ability to sign other players?

Excerpt from a previous post:
Defensively, the guy still has the brains, quick feet and size to defend point guards, shooting guards and small forwards — a valuable level of versatility. Kidd just doesn’t do it as well anymore, especially without Tyson Chandler around to act as a human helper wall. The brain is willing and able, but the body is starting to fail. Such is life for an NBA player nearing 40.

Reuniting him with chandler, accepting melo and stat are better than the jet and nowitski and it's feeling like a very good move.

Let's go Knicks. That's amare

nothing is official right now. nothing can be official until 7/11.

right now the reports say kidd has agreed to come to NY for a "similar deal to what the mavs offered"

the mavs could be mad now, but realize that a sign and trade gets them some assets in a few days and go for that.

we'll need experience front court guys like Camby to take some load off Tyson

crzymdups wrote:Kidd has value as a ballmover not ballstopper. He's a team guy. I think the biggest impact this will have is on the Lin/Melo relationship. A lot of us saw some tension between Melo and Lin last year. Kidd will defuse that and make Melo put team and winning first and still set him up enough to get his. Kidd is basically a coach on the floor at this point. It's not a sexy move, but I think it is a good move.

Starting line up opening night will be:

Lin
Kidd
Melo
Amar'e
Tyson

bench: JR, Novak, Jorts, Jeffries?, Shawne Williams?, (SHUMP)

It'd be nice if we could convince Dallas to do a sign and trade and still keep the $3M MLE to make a run at Camby.

This is an improvement of the team. Allows the pieces that are already here to mix better and that is huge.

Will feel a lot better once Lin is matched, JR is signed, Novak is signed and we hear Shump is rehabbing and getting better.

You really think there is a chance Kidd starts at SG?
