same here. id love to get lowry, he is a ballhawk and an excellent all-around PG. not sure how well he'd do managing the ego's of amare/melo though...

He's a tough-assed kid. He would be better at it than Lin.

Knicksfan wrote:Just curious but how are some so in love with the underachieving and fragile team we had last season? Its like some of you don't want the Knicks to improve but simply keep the same core. While I wasn't thrilled of parting with Shump, I could see the value of having Nash's amazing playmaking skills on a team that more than anything needed direction and stability. How many times we asked for improvement at pg? Who would've been a great fit to mentor Lin?

But no, we don't want Nash, no Kidd, no Felton. WTF do we want them? The same fragile underachieving team we had last season? At this point not even Lin is a certainty for us.

I'm glad we keep Shump and hope he develops, but some here think he is the second coming of MJ and that is disturbing. Make no mistake that landing Nash would've really placed us in the tittle discussion, even if general belief was we would've given up the most points in the NBA.

But yeah, we dodged another bullet, right? Yeah, we are back in the safe zone called mediocrity.

How will we improve this offseason? Have no idea but its looking less likely we will while everybody else gets stronger.

Spot on !

from kidd today:

That sucks but I would be on board with Lowery if Houston is willing to deal with us

Ok so no Nash? Back to ISO offense then. I am sure Melo is relieved. I do think Shumpert's defense is critical for us to do anything. We already have TWO MAX CONTRACT guys who are supposed to provide us with offense and since they can't or won't play defense we need other players who do - badly. Nash's lack of defense would have killed us when compounded by Amare's lack of defense and Melo's intermittent and selective defense.

I am really relieved that we did not just give up Shumpert & Jorts; both young players that will only get better, to rent a point guard that is almost 40 for a few years. In addition, after a few years we need to have trade chips that teams actually want if we aim to have options in trying to restock star talent.

Last season left very little practice time for the team to learn offense and gel. Injuries and coaching flux factored into persistent instability.

I for one am very interested in seeing what Lin can do with a full training camp, and normally paced schedule. I like Lin as the starting point guard of this squad, and I would rather the Knicks focus on bringing in a players like Oj Mayo or Ray Allen, and Marcus Camby...

and bring back Shawne Williams for his ability to stretch defenses and guard 3 positions.
I suspect the Knicks will spend minimum money to bring in a veteran guard presence with Spanish League veteran Pablo Prigioni.

If Toronto goes back on the offer to Fields then we have a choice to keep him, and you can add J.R. Smith to the potential resigning mix.

Melo personally called Nash to recruit him.

We were not winning a championship with Nash now we can focus on trading Amare one day and adding to a great young core centered around LI, shump, melo & Tyson. While other fans keep talking about a mystical 3yr window

Did he really? Must have missed that piece of info. Kudos to him IF true, changes my view of him somewhat. I thought Amare was the one trying to get Nash to sign here.

Knicks really should go hard after Kidd before he reups with Dallas. Andre Miller is gone and I dont want Felton unless we rehire Dantoni. Lowery would be phenomenal but I would be surprised if they trade with us after we sign Lin. Not sure we have enough to offer. Dont think knicks would do Shump for Lowery

If we didnt have such a shortage at sg & perimeter defense id consider trading Shump for Lowery. Rather have him than 40yr old Nash

Nash would've came if MDA was here. You can thank Melo for that.

The rockets wanted mike to finish the year more than anyone on the planet. Another lottery pick and they might get dh12

Seeing Nash play for the lakers will just seem wrong. I lost a bit of respect for the guy, especially after he said he wouldn't sign with them because he's an old fashioned kind of guy. its like if Camby signed with the heat (which may actually still happen!).

No to Kidd, he's done. Time to lower expectations. Suns will likely offer felton more than us too. We'll probably end up with Randy Foye and that 35 year old overseas PG
