Did everyone scream about that? or was it not a big deal? I think the fans wanted him for the most part & since the team sucked at the time & it was only the 12th roster spot, they should have thrown the fans a bone & kept him. He threw down that dunk in preseason & it was like the last time the building got excited until Linsanmity started.

....Just curious about that -0 it was a year or 2 ago, I think.

I remember people being more angry about keeping this Stanford guy named Landry Fields over Jr. At the very beginning Rautins was perceived as the one that might have a chance at a roster spot, not Fields.

It's odd to see people criticizing D'Antoni for being too stubborn to change. The Knicks hired the guy knowing what sort of system he runs. They knew he left Phoenix because he was unable or unwilling to modify that system to accommodate the likes of Shaq. Knowing all that, they hired him. Melo knew or should've known all that, and he lobbied to come anyway. I don't understand how the takeaway is that D'Antoni was too stubborn to make things work. He's a baker, and what he does is bake. Yet Dolan brought in a big piece of ribeye and asked D'Antoni to incorporate it into a cake that's digestible, let alone tasty. And it's also amusing to see commentators harping on the premise that you need defense to win championships, so "the system" can't win championships. You know what? When you've endured a decade of ugly basketball, a fluid offense is pretty fun to watch even if it doesn't win championships. Finishing more than a couple of games above .500 would be nice enough.

And I thought it was beautiful.

hahaha

I don't really believe that, nor do I believe the articles that say how inefficient Kobe is. I was just making a point because it was there to be made.

Funny thing is, I hate Melo's game. But, I hate BS more especially when people don't even realize or admit that they are being disingenuous.

A smart blogger wrote this a long time ago:

Hiring Woodson to the staff, as if he is some savior to rescue the inept and stupid Mike D'Antoni, is a terrible move. The guy enjoyed a handful of marginally successful campaigns (he had one 50+ win season) with the Hawks and his accomplishments and abilities pale in the comparatively gargantuan shadow of Coach Mike D'Antoni.

I will always tell you of, and paraphrase poorly, Coach Mike D'Antoni's words about what constitutes a good defense; "when you score more points than the other team, you have played good defense". And even if this were not the most true thing in the universe, Mike Woodson is not the answer.

To forcibly interject a bum coach like Woodson is comical and insulting. I fear the plan is to allow D'Antoni to expire his contract and promote Woodson to head coach. Then this team would be perfect and very right for each other, the franchise with its fetishism for disorganized 8th seed basketball will have succeeded in bringing another potentially good thing down.

His blog is now defunct, but the man was a visionary.
