We are relying on Baron Freaking Davis, who is known to be a chucker himself when he's playing his best, to turn things around. To think, I was so optimistic about things about just a year ago.

IMO, people who demanded the Melo trade have no business complaining. This is what we got and this is the player he was in Denver. It's crazy nobody else saw this sheot.

Melo has consistantly played on 50 win teams, never on a team that struggled the way this team is currently....You can win with Melo...

Melo played on exactly Three 50-win teams, and one of them was exactly 50, so this is almost 49. He has been mostly in the 40-win range.

To compare, Mike D'Antoni has coached Four 50-win teams and Two 60-win teams. And we can't count his Knicks tenure towards his record, because, look.

You can win with Melo. That goes without saying and it's happened. However; I don't see it happening with the team that's constructed. Not with all perimter scorers, no post players and no PG, and not with guys who can't pass. To top it off, not with guys who aren't yet that efficient at scoring from the perimeter, which historically, includes Melo! To have Melo on your team, you need 2 other perimeter defenders, a PG who passes first and knows how to run an offense (I don't trust Baron Davis can do this), a low post scorer and consistent perimter shooting threats that will punish teams for doubling Melo or your low post scorer. This isn't anything close to what we have.

D'Antony is a coach for mature athletes. We have one in Stat and this about it.
NY need coach which can tell Dolan in front of the media to shut up and stop talking BS like Rangers coach does.
NY needs coach which tells star players in from of the whole world that they stink when they do and sit their ass on the bench.
D'Antony is not this type of coach and no coach of this type will work for Dolan.

That's like saying: You can get to the WCF with MDA. You just need 3 all stars in their prime and one of them has to be one of the greatest PGs in the history of the game. If you have these in place, it is possible to win 2 playoff series maximum.

If that were the case, maybe that would be MDAs fault. However, what has the team had over the years that could create winning situations? Not much IMO, besides right before the Melo trade last year. We had an above average team that was playing well and we have a lot of leverage as well. And Raymond Felton is not a HOF PG.

Essentially, what I said was not like what you said.

The problem with most posters on the board is they think we should be a championship contender since Melo is here. It doesn't work that way. It takes time to build a contender. Melo has been here for 4 months!! We have some pieces, an allstar PF, a premier defensive Center, and a young, defensive minded combo guard and a pg who is injured right now. Do we need more pieces?! Absolutely! But you dont put togther a complete team in 4 months. This summer, we will address our other needs, namely adding to the bench, and strengthening the bench. The biggest mistake we can make is to try to break up our big three. The core is in place, we just need to add the right pieces. We have time. Melo is 28-29, Stat is below 30 aswell. We have a 4-5 year window. Unfortunately, most fans dont want to give it time.....

How do you expect to be adding to our bench and how do you think we will be getting a PG this Summer? We don't have a first round pick and just a 5 mil. exception. If Steve Nash performs great, do you really think he will take less to play with us? I highly doubt it. IMO, the only way we can completely improve is to trade either Melo or Amar'e, and since Amar'es value is probably low right now, it's going to have to be Melo.

This was my beef before the Melo trade. If Melo was like Kobe or LeBron, we wouldn't be talking like this, but when we traded for him, we acted as though he WAS one of them, but he's not even close. In fact, IMO, he might not even be a better scorer than either of them. Wade too. Hence, we pinned our own backs against the wall in this scenario.
