so basically the logic here is: the knicks were bad when jamal was here, so jamal is bad. right?

my logic is jamal shoots a lot. so does carmelo, so does amare. douglas plays good D and jamal doesn't. add all that up and i don't see why we trade part of the little defense we have for more offense.

People seem to be leaving out one major factor. Jamal Crawford is CLUTCH. Numbers don't show that. You just have to watch. Look at Derek Fisher. Plenty of guards have comparable numbers to him and many have way better numbers. In the end, that guy is clutch. Crawford has that gene. Does TD have that? That is yet to be determined. I haven't seen it consistently from him yet. Crawford, absolutely. Did you see how he kept ATL in the game during that playoffs series? And he wasn't "the man" on that team. He just has that gene that allows a player to hit huge shots at important moments. That's valuable. Jason Terry comes to mind.

I like TD a lot. And he does show a lot of effort on the defensive end. That is admirable. Seriously! But lets not overstate his defensive ability. How did he do against Rondo in the playoffs?

jamal can create his own shot and shots for others. toney can do neither. anyone who equates their offense is wrong. they aren't on the same planet. toney can hit open jumpers, that's it. jamal can create - create might seem like a vague term, but it means he can get a shot he wants for himself or someone else under tight defense and that is a ridiculously important skill. to say he shoots a lot is seems like it is based on watching him when he was one of the only good players on some horrendous knicks teams.

to put it another way, people hate zbo after his time here. he proved he was a good player in the playoffs on memphis.

Jamal Crawford isn't a good player but no amount of facts will allow you to accept that your favorite player isn't a good player.

he's not my favorite player, i think he fits a need here. i didn't make this personal or petty, i'd ask you not to do that either.

This doesn't show any clear bias at all.

TD is just getting started and he's been a good young player. Jamal isn't perfect, but TD hasn't reached the heights that Jamal has in his career. Having a guard with his talent and experience is much more impactful than TD. If you asked any player who they feared more it would easily be Jamal. He can just hurt you in more ways.

CP3 isn't walking thru the door and there are almost no pure passers available. We have to add punch to this bench and tho TD is a good young guard and getting better, if you have to add someone with more experience and more overall talent you have to consider doing it. When Jamal last played for MDA just before being traded he was avg'ing 19.6 and 4.4 asts. This team is in win now mode and I can understand that the Knicks brass wants a bit more experience in the backcourt.

"we know we can score the basketball, that's not a problem for us. our challenge is to keep teams under 100 points." -- carmelo anthony in the press conference today.

does trading our best PG defender (TD) for a guy who openly loafs through defensive assignments (crawford) help that? no.

Rondo torched TD in the playoffs....Saying he's our best PG defender doesn't hold much weight. Gary Payton isn't walking through the door. He was the last real lock down PG defender. JC would've done just as good as TD against Rondo. JC would also make Rondo play defense, which is another way to slow somebody down.

My point is simple, as far as defense goes, TD or JC....it doesn't really matter. Chandler is the key on defense. He will get the entire team to communicate and play defense....No more reverse finger roles or lolly pop layups from Rondo or any other player that attacks the rim. Everybody will actually have second thoughts now, when penetrating...Similar to the Patrick Ewing days.

Why you think Charlie Ward was such a good defender? He had good team defenders.....Solid Center and PF's who was great at playing help defense....Now we can play PG's a little closer on defense, knowing you have help behind you.....Ride their weak hand into the lane, right into the big guys. There's going to be lots of tip passes, block shots and fast breaks because of Chandler.....He's an actual defensive vocal leader on the floor, that forces everybody to step up their game on.....

Creating shots for other would mean assists right? Jamal does NOT do that sort of thing. TD does more than hit wide open jumpers.

Is it possible or are we going even further down in IQ level with this mOve? Ii dont see Crawford as an upgrade on TD.
TKF on Melo ::....he is a punk, a jerk, a self absorbed out of shape, self aggrandizing, unprofessional, volume chucking coach killing playoff loser!!
