they should proactively void any howard to "big market" trade now at this point. where was this stopping "bad" trades when IT was killing this team?

isiah's trades made the big market team worse EVERY TIME. not better.

big difference.

you'll notice there were no complaints about big market teams or revenue sharing while isiah was running the knicks. once Walsh got the Knicks under the cap and the Knicks could actually leverage the fact that everyone wants to play in NY if the money is equal? big problem for the league.

The NBA owns the Hornets which is why they're able to kill this trade. They had no legal standing to kill an IT trade and wouldn't for a legit Howard trade.

it will be interesting to see what the whole story is, if it ever comes out totally. it bothers me that on the surface this appears to be the league trying to not be total hypocrites on one of the reasons for the lockout --> stop a trade cuz it violates your player acquisition rules, not cuz of pub relations.

IT was mentioned as a rhetorical question... kind of showing that a number of trades in recent history have looked reaaally bad (bos, la ones come to mind as well).

whats the rule violation for the cp3 trade other than it looks bad given the lockout? if the trade got as far as needing league approval, some owners had to be aware of this. how did it even get that far? as the story goes, maybe more details will show what the heck is going on.

The league truly has egg on its face doing this. From Berger:
Also, the league office technically was not supposed to be open to evaluate, approve or disapprove trades until Friday.

small comment from the nba ...

NBA spokesman Mike Bass says: "It's not true that the owners killed the deal, the deal was never discussed at the Board of Governors meeting and the league office declined to make the trade for basketball reasons."

There was no rule violation, the NBA owns the Hornets so they can decline any trade they feel like. In this case, it's because, supposedly, a bunch of small market teams raised a big stink.

Well I bet Lamar Odom is relieved. He sounds so pitiful in this interview. Second guessing the reality show.
