This is the truth about the owners. They know that things are going to get better in the NBA and in truth last year was the beginning of the bounce back as they had record revenues. This talk about losses is a smoke screen cuz the owners know that the next TV deal is likely to be a whopper. So they're trying to improve their % of what is already going to be a bigger pie full of profits going forward.

The Nets will be in a great spot when they get to Brooklyn. At some point they'll find a buyer for the Hornets and that situation will get better. New York is going to be a playoff team which can't hurt profits. I know that we help fill up the Hawks arena when the Knicks come to Atlanta and now that's gonna happen just about everywhere the Knicks play now that they have Melo!!! All of this new viewership is going to help the league with a New TV deal. There was a small dip during the height of the recession, but since then the league has begun to bounce back and the Owners know it. This is a money grab in anticipation of future profits.

Amazing. In one thread, the owners are stupid malcontents who couldn't manage a Dairy Queen properly, and the next minute, they're brilliant forecasting moneysnatchers who can foretell the future better than God. And soon, the NBA is going to be the new premier TV sport, supplanting the NFL!

Yeah, and I remember how when Melo's Nuggets used to visit any town, ratings and attendance just went through the roof!

The owners are not saying, "Let's do a short term deal, right the boat and when the new deal (TV) comes in, we'll do an equitable split based on these new revenues". Their position is more in line with we're losing money because we say so. Forget about opening the books, It is what it is. A line must be drawn somewhere. As much as it hurts to drop games, let us not forget that this was a choice by the owners, and IS an attempt to grab a major piece of the pie, as opposed to righting some tremendous inequity.

"We are playing a game. We are playing at not playing a game..."

I sure hope this isn't another reference to Melo's man bresses.
