RT @Lockedonsports: D-Will told me it was not his choice. He is stunned. Declined to do interview until he figures out what it all means.

this doesn't sound like a man itching to re-sign... yet, at least.

maybe once DWill sees how Brook Lopez can get 5 rebounds a game with no problem, he'll change his mind.

If it would "force" him to re-sign with the Nets, than it would've "forced" him to re-sign with Utah...and I doubt Utah would trade him if they could keep him.

The Nets are going to go balls out to acquire some running mates for Deron- and we'll see if they are a success or failure. They needed to do something to make themselves more exciting for the move.

i gotta say the Russian has style. He stumbled a bit out of the gate with those unexplainable contracts handed to Outlaw and Petro but was pretty gangsta in walking away from the Melo deal (even though he came back) and letting his team get this deal done without meddling too much.

Melo/Nugs showed the hard way. Utah showed the easy way.

The Russian actually built up his wealth unlike our idiot owner. At least Dolan is a big spender...

Opulence..he has it.

Look at Billups splits.

http://espn.go.com/nba/player/splits/_/id/63/chauncey-billups

Tell which PG has been playing better since December.

Factor in this:

Denver has a better record.

Denver scores more than the KNicks.

Denver plays at a similar place.

Denver averages as many teams assists a game as the Knicks.

Playoff experience.

Billups in indeed 34, but anyone saying he is NOT an upgrade based solely on that fact is turning a blink eye to actual results.

Once again we're left to trying to get people to realize Felton hasn't been playing well since mid-December.

Look at the splits.

http://espn.go.com/nba/player/splits/_/id/2753/raymond-felton

A PG of Felton's skillset can NOT be shooting as poorly behind the arc as Felton is, particularly given his enthusiasm for shooting it.

I like Felton but he's living of some early good will with some of you.

I have a TON of gratitude for Felton changing the culture here. His attitude is a HUGE reason why the other guys we traded were desired.

Chauncey is avergaing 16 and 5 and knocking down over 40% of his 3's and usual 90% plus from the line. He's not going to play Felton minutes but he's an upgrade.

What attractive assets do the Nets have left to get running mates, again?

Travis Outlaw signed to a five year deal?

Only asset is Brook Lopez and he's been de-valued by his own play.

It may force him to say in NJ (franchise tag), but it can't force him to resign.

He can't until after the CBA is ratified.

So the Post is either wrong or wording their premise badly.

The minutes HAVE TO BE factored in, as well as his age and the pace he will be asked to play. Look, i'm not upset that Chauncey Billups is going to be giving the Knicks 30 MPG. But what's going to happen when he has to play 42 the first night of a back-to-back

btw

Unlike Anthony, who could opt out of his contract after this season and was allowed under the current collective bargaining agreement to sign an extension with the Knicks, Williams can't opt out until after next season and can't sign an extension until July 2011. The current CBA expires after this season, however, making all contract talk uncertain.

They had a boat load of picks. I think they must still have some. Didn't they also draft James Johnson? Morrow has a very reasonable contract. Farmar is an awesome back up but they have Beno Uzoh?

Wojo just said that they didn't want to wait and end up like Cleveland and Toronto.

Pace is relatively the same.

And he averages 32.3m a game. Last year he averaged 35. The difference is likely more due to Lawson being a very capable back-up.

Nash is averaging 33.3.

Kidd 33.7.

Playing the age card is pretty weak.

If there is evidence that Chauncey Billups can't 33m a night, produce it.

"34" doesn't cut the mustard.

they might be banking on a franchise tag...

but otherwise, they just gave up a mammoth package for 1.5 guaranteed seasons of deron williams.

...or some other way for a team to offer its own player XX% more than any outside team can offer them... we just don't know what is going to go down in the new CBA.

Favors has potential, but I have never liked Harris as a PG, and the Nyets had a lot of #1s to use in trades.

If the Russian plays his cards right he might just get the last laugh.

WOW.

NJ always ends up with the superior PG's. Jason Kidd and now Deron Williams.

Im HIGHLY salty right now. I love some Carmelo but Deron Williams is a beast.

For anyone saying the Nets gave up less to get DWill, a guy the don't even know if he's going to re-sign past 2012, consider they gave up basically 3 lotto picks: Favors #3 overall in 2010, their own 2011 pick and the Warriors top 7 protected pick in 2012. That's a lot. I'm sorry but Gallo = a lotto pick, but Wilson and Mozgov do not.

age is a huge factor and Billups isnt a long term solution. His play has tailed off because he's not the defensive player he was 2-3 years ago.

Billups is a short term upgrade, but Felton was a good fall back option if we couldnt sign or trade for a star PG. Thats exhasted now. Same with Mosgov at center. Would have been nice to keep one of those guys but thus is life
