I get that, that's good! Emotion, vulnerability and passion are good!

Earlier up the thread I mentioned a bunch of posters I wish would return. Most of them are among those who most raised my hackles, and me theirs. Many of my favorite posters have been people who've challenged me the most. Ditto TMS -- he and I have gone at it too. So what: how demure, politically correct and stoic must we pretend to be? Is that preferable to being engaged and authentic? Don't we tune into sports for the competitive drama? But we want sports message boards to be devoid of it?

As important as walking away for a period may be, so too is permission to be emotional without fear of being asked to leave for it.

I think Martin and Andrew do a stellar job here. I'm not really complaining. I just think THIS situation could of been handled better, and still could be.

Those are my feelings, for whatever they're worth.

Well, I'm not sure which (if any) of those posters were asked to leave. I know in at least one case, a mod said something along the lines of "if you hate this site so much, feel free to leave." You could take that as an invitation to leave, or you could reflect on whether you said something to set it off, or maybe the guy's having a bad day or whatever. That's not a time for high emotion. It's a time to step back and soothe the waters. Some guys are just always in conflicts. Sometimes it's best to defuse a conflict instead of trying to figure out a way to come out on top.

BBJ, I agree with what you say, I simply think it applies equally to Mods.

The Terms Of Service are short and sweet:

1. While healthy debate and discussion is fine, please refrain from rudeness, insulting posts, personal attacks or purposeless inflammatory posts. If it's severe enough you will lose your account privileges.

2. Each member is allowed one login account. If you would like to change your account name please don't reregister...email us.

3. We have a filter that censors the common swear words so that people of all ages can enjoy the site. Please don't try to circumvent it.

4. Please do not use ALL CAPS in your thread titles or posts.

The only relevant part is #1, and rightly or wrongly, TMS felt he was on the losing side of the "rude/insulting/inflammatory" equation between Martin and Nalod. I'm not saying I agree with that assessment, but I certainly don't think TMS was the offender, so I don't get why he's on the defensive here.

--

I thank Martin and Andrew for allowing me to speak my piece. I Should add I don't dump all blame on them, I think TMS also overreacted defensively. I hope he takes a quick breather and jumps back in. I miss his prickly butt.

I had TMS on ignore. I found him saying the same things over and over again. The few times I engaged him on disagreements the guy goes snitty and starts name calling. I found he had this constant need to validate himself, what he said and prove those things over and over and it got tiresome. We had a little spat, I called him PMS because he was acting like a baby and just opted to ignore his posts. I found it impossible to disagree with him as he always took such as an attempt to undermine his credibility or attack his character. My god, its a sports forum.

The dude was really paranoid. Look at this thread. Its all about him.

Again.. its an internet message board. Posting 40,000 times doesnt change the fact that its an internet message board.

My MO here is I try to address everyone as I would if we were hanging in a bar. If you cant handle someone saying "dude your idea is dumb." dont post on the internet.

I didnt engage TMS anymore.. I just put him on ignore. Who cares? I didnt know he left until I realized I wasnt seeing 10k posts from him on the Melo stuff and Marv told me he took his ball and went home. I also saw he had "issues" with jimimou, Nalod, the mods, Briggs, and a couple others. Again... who cares????? Are there really clicks here? This is not real life.

We are all passionate about this team and its been a VERY tough decade. I just dont get where the paranoia came from, and the dude really thought people were out to undermine him. Undermine what? All I can say is he wasnt always like this and I had met him several times at various gatherings etc and found him to be a very likable dude. I dont know what changed but I'm not the only person that noticed. I hope he fixes whatever is bothering him and comes back, then accepts me calling him PMS for punishment for taking his ball and going home.

On a side note orangeblob's comments on this thread are what make the whole thing. Nalod's stuff is just filler. This whole forum is just a set up for the blob to get his mojo out there.

If anyone doesnt think my comments are insighful and dont make you like me and think I am totally awesome go phuck a star.

Its funny, I watched The Gambler with James Caan a few years back ( great film BTW, they're doing a remake with Mark Wahlberg) and in one scene Caan goes to place a bet with some guy on a bball court, (not the scene where he plays one on one) and I could have sworn I heard him say about the bet to Caan "So you're a starphucker". Saw it again this weekend on PPV but that scene was cut out. Guess it might be on the DVD. Bet Nalod had something to do with it!

I remember this thread, seemed odd how TMS flew off the handle over this. He did give us the old school music thread so I have to thank him for that. 40k posts wow, has anyone topped that? Minus the complimentary 20k we all got.

TMS hasn't posted in 3+ years and is 8K posts ahead of #2 Bonn.
