Despite Boston's transparent maneuverings for a to-be-bought-out Troy Murphy, source says ex-Net hasn't made decision yet b/t BOS/MIA/ORL.

Knew it was a long shot, but was hoping NYK would draw some interest.

Yeah, I agree.

I still think Donnie and playing time mean he will listen to NY.

But he'd get a whole bunch of playing time in Miami, too. Plus sun, no state taxes and better chance of playoffs success...

I'm still holding out hope for Jared Jeffries or Troy Murphy.

In the name of all that is holy, PLEASE STOP with the Jared Jeffries talk!
WHY would you want him? He's a negative offensive player, and doesn't even rebound or block shots.

He knows the system and is a solid defender. Right now I'd rank the guys I'd target on the waiver wire like this:

Dude hits the side of the backboard on layups. Please NO to JJ2!

we need size. and this late in the season, it helps if it's guys who know the system. jeffries is a capable defender and knows the system.

d'antoni likes him. he sacrifices his body and hustles. he's horrible on offense, but he's the kind of glue guy this team needs.

How does the quote go... "In the land of the blind the one-eyed man is king?"

What other guy can step in immediately and give us 15-20 minutes in a system he already knows?

Everyone hates the guy because of the crazily bad plays he makes on offense every now and then- but he is a capable and versatile defender who is a pretty good teammate.

Folks have to trust Donnie and MDA on this one- Dolan is not going to be interfering here. If they think Jeffries is worth the $$ I have no problem with them bringing him back for the last part of the season.

No man is happy without a delusion of some kind. Delusions are as necessary to our happiness as realities- C.N. Bovee

I understand Eddy Curry will be available....

What you ask for doesn't exist.

The Knicks legitimate need for size is independent of the existence of it.

Um i may really regreat saying this but I like fishlips for when we're facing a really pesky quick PG that is running circles around Billups(i know have TD for that but still). Jefferies was pretty good at bothering those types with his length. might be good in telling everyone where they need to be on the floor on Defense.
Let's try to elevate the level of discourse in this byeetch. Please

Also told Troy Murphy has NOT made decision yet -- no deal w/Boston, in other words -- and plans to take lap around field (ORL, NYK, MIA)

I'm telling ya - Walsh ... doesn't have to uproot ... fits in the system and playing time. Murphy can be a STARTER in the playoffs here.

Don't sleep on the Knicks.

I hope we get Troy Murphy... not that anyone would confuse him with a defender, though. He can rebound well and hit the three - he'd fit here. And play. That has to count for something for a dude heading into FA.

So do I, but it's not looking good. From Alan Hahn:

We mentioned Troy Murphy as an option, but it appears Murph, despite living in New York City in the offseason, has his sights set on going to a championship contender such as the Celtics (what was up with that Kendrick Perkins trade?), the Heat or the Magic. It's unfortunate, because Murphy would get a ton of open looks from the corner three in D'Antoni's system and he would provide some much-needed rebounding. He doesn't bring much on defense, however.

It will be worth watching what happens with Joel Przybilla, who was traded to Charlotte in the Gerald Wallace trade and is reportedly considering retirement if he doesn't work out a buyout. If Przybilla is bought out, the Knicks would have some interest.

Pryzbilla would be a nice option if they work out a buyout, but my guess is Jeffries and Barron fill out the roster.

Good catch.

I would actually prefer Pryzbilla by far - that would be amazing.
