Are there any black players we can compare with Gallo?

Anyone? What was odom like at 22? Pippen? Glen Rice? These guys were rail thin, raw and quick.

Yup.

90% of all great players who played sg/sf/pf are very good mid range shooters, it seperates you from the rest..when he does that I'll be impress or encourage, right now i like the penetration, but 70% of those look forced and almost purposely hoping for a foul..

You can say that the midrange J is what makes Amare a different player than when he began.

As for penetration and finishing, Gallo plays like he is 6'1" instead of 6'10" at times, but I think it is something he will gain consistency on as he gets older and becomes more confident in what he can do.

I don't understand this assessment. Gallo when driving to the lane either gets fouled, make a dunk shot or layup shot, or find the open man. What makes him playing like a 6'1" player in your eyes?

Fades away too many times, or is trying to go for an extention type lay-in in order to put the ball in before opponents can get to him. He has been getting better, but he does not go to the basket all the time like a 6'10"+ player determined to score.

His post-up game also needs work- he seems like he is shooting to get fouled, and not always putting up a well-practiced shot.

I've brought up two names before- Duncan and McHale- why can Gallo, and Timo, for that matter, work on the moves/footwork that these big men used... and why can they use the backboard better?

Someone else mentioned this before but I think he is a taller and rangier Paul Pierce.

Paul Pierce has an awesome midrange game, something Gallo hasn't really developed yet... i don't really see a 22 yo Odom either, he was more of a point forward, Gallo is more of a shooter/scorer.

I don't see Gallo being any of those guys offensively. It used to be Glen Rice, but now he's driving to the bucket a lot more, so that is crossed out. Another player you could have compared him to was Rashard Lewis, but 2 things. Rashard, I think, is a better shooter, and now Gallo drives a lot more.

I think he's a very unique player to be honest.

yeah my first instinct was to name Rashard Lewis but this year Gallo's taking the ball to the hole a lot more & getting to the FT line... plus he's a much better defender than Rashard Lewis ever was... i agree Gallo's pretty unique, hard to peg him to any set mold... people thought he was only going to be a spot up shooter but he's proven to be much more.

i made the Gallo/Pierce comparison and I think it's pretty good. they both have a jerkiness to the way they drive to the basket. it highlights the contact and forces the officials to make calls. neither is an out-of-this-world athlete, but both seem to get to the hole. there's a craftiness to their games. if gallo adds the mid-range pull up jumper, then the comparison is spot on.

Gallo is like a mix of Turkoglu and Pierce. They have that innate ability to draw contact. They're aren't blazingly quick, but they're much more agile with good handle so that they can still get the advantage on a defender. Gallo is an underrated passer too. He needs to be handling the ball more often, cuz he makes great decisions with the ball.

One of the unique things about Gallo's game is the way he uses his lack of coordination to his advantage.

yup...You see those drive's to the basket and your first thought is (that shot had no chance to go in) im glad he got fouled...

His mid range shot is from 21 feet, step in a foot closer, and it's a clanker. He maybe getting to the FT line a lot, but his ppg hasn't gone up much at all..he still dissappers for long stretches, very long. HE gets hot for 10 to 15 minutes, then completely vanishes, you almost forget he's on the floor.

What Gallo has is excellent ball control for his size. You never see him lose the ball on his drives until he gets hit. He's all lanky and clumsy looking but defenders can't avoid contact. Guys like Gallo and Pierce are masters at drawing contact and selling it to the refs. Gallo is learning how to finish stronger tho and that's a good development.
