Thats not reasonable. Melo is a superstar. 2 out of Wilson, Chandler, Fields will have to go plus Curry and pick. Thats fair.
like i said in my last post, i'd go as far as Wilson & Gallo plus filler for Melo as long as we could hold onto Fields... i think that's more than reasonable.
I keep reading this and I don't fully understand...Let's say u are the Knicks GM...Denver comes to you and say I want Gallo and Fields or Chandler and Fields for Melo, You would then say no, Fields is untouchable?
Yes. Thats what he's saying. Fields is an unreplaceable talent. lol. I forgot how fanatical we can be about our players.
actually no, that's not what i'm saying... i never said Fields is unreplaceable... i said i think he's probably harder to replace in our roster than a guy like Gallo or Wilson because he brings different types of intangibles that u can't quantify w/simple stats, so because of that i'd rather hold onto him if we had a choice... IMO i think we can reasonably be able to hold onto him & still put together a more than reasonable package of talent to get Melo to NY... if DEN comes to me & says they want Gallo & Fields or Chandler & Fields for Melo or else nothing, i probably do it, but only as a last resort... i've said all along if we can hold onto at least 1 out of those 3 guys & still get Melo, it's a deal i would do... i wouldn't give away all 3 of those guys, & neither do i think DW would do that either.
I agree. Fields is just a good solid intelligent player. He is a guy that will find a way to win a game no matter what. You put 5 guys on the floor with that mentality and they will win 9 time out of 10 even if the other team is more "talented." If you get Melo, he will completely replace what Chandler is giving us, but you need a SG that is willing to be the glue guy to facilitate Melo and Amar'e playing together. At this point, I think Fields is untouchable unless the deal is Fields, Curry, 1st round pick and cash for Melo. Now if we got to keep Chandler and Gallo, then I think you have to give up Fields, but I would not trade Fields along with Gallo or Chandler.
