With the rumor that Denver thinks that the Knicks tampered with Carmelo out there, I would not be surprised if he simply told them he will not sign an extension anywhere but the Knicks. If that is the case, Denver cannot expect anything close to what they were supposedly getting in that Nets 4 way trade. Why would that rumor surface if the Nuggets were not frustrated by the lack of cooperation by Anthony.

That it the kind of rumor that leaks out if everything is going the Knicks way. Either that or I am being the eternal optimist.. lol

This explains why Denver was acting like we had absolutely nothing to offer. There bitter about this and really just don't want to see us get him now. They may be forced to deal the longer this goes on tho. At a certain point they'll only be hurting themselves when it's clear that he will only sign an extension with NY.

Just so we're clear - the Knicks are going to have to give up "something" in order to get Carmelo - either now or later. If we go later, we'll still need to renounce some players in order to get the necessary cap room.
