Many thought Camby could have developed into an offensive force coming out of college. But alas - as far as AR goes, I'd be happy if he gains proficiency in just a few areas vs pushing his versatility. I think this is what we've seen with how the team has handled Gallo thus far - I think they intentionally limited the types of plays he'd participate in early just so he could gain some mastery. Toward the tail end of the season, they started letting him do his thing.
Not sure what Don Nelson was doing with him in Golden State, but I'd be satisfied if they started him out in the 1st half of the season in a young Camby-like role - use him to run the floor on offense, be scrappy on second chance points and finish. Obviously Amare is going to be #1 scoring option on the team and it will be absolutely important that Amare establishes his mojo with the Knicks first. On defense, again at this stage of his career I'd want to save wear and tear on his body and use him as a weak side shot blocking threat. You don't want him to take a physical pounding against bruisers. That's what Turiaf and the Russian are here for.
