It terms of what he got for cash$$$ it seems like the Knicks made no push at him at all 250k guaranteed.

The Golden State Warriors are closing in on signing summer-league sensation Jeremy Lin, according to sources with knowledge of the talks.

Sources told ESPN.com on Tuesday that the Warriors, by offering to guarantee more than half of Lin's potential first-year salary of nearly $500,000, have reached an agreement in principle with the point guard from Harvard.

You would be happy to be in the league.
lol @ being BANNED by Martin since 11/07/10 (for asking if Mr. Earl had a point). Really, Martin? C'mon. This is the internet. I've seen much worse on this site. By Earl himself. Drop the hypocrisy.

At my age I would be happy to be on the court picking up balls and throwing them to guys during warmup, but Lin is coming of a pretty good SL- you would think that he would want some playing time, and someday, a chance to start.

The warriors already have 3 point guards on the roster, don't they? I don't understand why they'd bother with Jeremy LIn.

Is this strictly a P.R. roster move to appeal to the asian population in the bay area?

Yes, even the Warriors organization looks to sign a community pick every now and then.

Gotta think baby steps for an undrafted free agent. There are many worse coaches to play for than Don Nelson.
"Graduates" of Nelson's run-n-gun guard school tend to get playing time and spot starts even if they begin the season on the deep bench... and tend to get paid elsewhere after a year or two.

i seriously hope we didn't let 250K in guaranteed money prevent us from nabbing this kid

Sounds like a fait accompli that he goes to the Warriors.

The guaranteed $$ and the fact that he thinks David Lee was Asian-American sealed the deal. He is from Palo Alto, by the way.

Nalod probably thinks David Lee knows martial arts.

If we only need to guarantee half his 1st year salary of $500,000, we should do it. We have the cap room this year and it won't eat up cap room for next year.

It would have been a shrewd marketing move by the Knicks, who are being billed as some multi-national, United Nations team. Didn't hurt that he has game eiher.

All things being equal, and that was not really the case since GS offered him guaranteed $$, it sounds like he wanted to stay in the area.

Saw his GS pre-draft interview, and he talked about how he had tried to get into Stanford and some other schools on the west coast, but they would not offer him a scholarship- he had to be a walk-on. He said that Harvard offered him a scholarship, although I don't think he said whether it was for BB or academic.

I hope Lin goes to Golden State because he will at least have a chance to play. We know D'Antoni is going to glue Lin too the bench.

I'm surprised GS hasn't made a move to bring back CJ Watson..He's a fine player that did a heck of a job for them last year..On talent alone, you figure they would've made a move to bring him back by now..So far nothing..I betcha Watson's asking price is too steep and they probably feel they'd be better off moving forward with a salary-controlled Curry and Lin as a cost-effective backup. I'd be interested to know exactly what Watson's looking for right now. I betcha he's looking for something similar to what Wes Matthews just got from the Blazers, essentially a full MLE type deal. I also wonder if the team being sold along with the big D Lee signing have anything to do with not bringing Watson back...They just gave lee $80M..And what was the team sold for again - $450M or something? NBA record from what I heard...Maybe the new owners are a little tapped at the moment.

Yeah just Googled it (or should I say Luegled it -- HAHA!)..Just went down a day or two ago huh? Can't believe I missed it..Good trade for Chicago -- he'll help them and they gave up basically nothing. The Bulls should be decent - that 2011 pick probably won't be worth that much. Watson's a nice backup for D Rose. Now I can see why GS is so interested in Lin..Thanks EG.
