I don't know if they'd be looking to trade such a promising young big man on a rookie contract for David Lee on a near max contract if they weren't really concerned about his injuries. A fracture with two torn ligaments in the ankle is pretty serious.

Well whatever. It's better than getting nothing for Lee. We'll see how good Anthony is and if he can still play. If he can't then he'll be on his way when his deal expires.

Yeah but you have to compare that with other offers we might get for Lee

The Knicks should consummate this trade today, before the Nets move on Lee.

AR will be an all-star more than once, this is a steal.

So is microfracture surgery and a detached retina, that didn't keep the Knicks from dropping $100 mil guaranteed and uninsured on Amare.

Randolph is a freak. He really brings a new element to the Knicks. Randolph reminds me of a young Josh Smith. Both are head cases but supremely talented and really unmatched physically. I'd love to get Brandin Wright or Turiaf too, to bolster the front court.

I much rather have Ellis, but if we get Randolph i would be pretty exciting for a longterm frontcourt of Stoudemire, Randolph, and Gallinari. But if this happens and we don't get Ellis, we need to make a strong push for Tony Parker. We have Chandler, Douglas, and a massive trade exception to get it done, and there has to be something of that combo that appeals to the Spurs or a 3rd team to facilitate. I don't want to end up signing Ridnour just because we need a PG and no longer have max cap space preserved for next year. We clearly need to come up with another star either this season or via free agency and hopefully it is either melo or parker, more likely parker. With 2 stars plus young talent in gallo and randolph, we have a real chance in putting together a championship team in a couple years.

if the lebron news is true, i really like this move.

randolph has a very rare skillset for a big man that i've only seen chris bosh have before. he can handle the ball, he can rebound, he can block shots, he can hit the 18foot jumper and he can play downlow. at LSU he displayed all of these skills time and again but so far in the nba, he's been very inconsistent and there are reasons for it. 1. he's still very young (he will turn 21 on july 15) 2. he's still extremely thin, he's listed at 210 and i doubt he's even that much. the best thing is that he WILL add some weight as he gets older and i believe he's going to mature into his nba game very nicely.

let's not totally discount what he did last year either: 22mpg 12ppg,6rpg, 1.55bpg. If we can add this guy as our PF next to amar'e and gallo, then we have a hell of a front-line. i'm absolutely FOR this move.

he's also been yanked around A LOT by nelson. that situation in GS is a joke, its one of the only franchises in the NBA run more poorly than the knicks are. just a joke, from ownership on down.

randolph is so young and so unique of a player, i'd really love to have him on the knicks. if they committed to him 30 minuets a night, i think he would really break out.

Just about to say the same thing Smooth --- LOL.

We said nyk4ever...I'm definitely in favor of this trade also...How can you not like this kid Randolph? Very skilled..You give this kid 35 mins a night and he should put up all-star numbers across the board, a guy that really fills out the entire stat sheet. Don Nelson really makes me laugh man.. This cukoo has jerked this kid Randolph around right from the beginning. I mean here's Nelson years ago with us trying to shove Patrick Ewing to the background, instead choosing to funnel everything through point-forward Anthony Mason. Now years later he gets lucky enough to draft a player with similar only BETTER skills than Mason and then fails to utilize him properly. LOL! Dude's a complete nutjob...David Lee is quite the proven commodity though, an all-star --- Randolph isn't and Turiaf, while I do like him, isn't either. Let's be honest, Turiaf's a backup albeit a pretty good one...My big Question right now - is that package enough for D. Lee? I realize we're not getting Monta Ellis along with Randolph but I'm thinking a Randolph/Azubuike, Randolph/Turiaf/a re-signed CJ Watson or Randolph/Turiaf/a future pick package sounds a little better no??? Hey, if it's Randolph/Turiaf, in the end of the day, I guess you take that and consider yourself lucky...

Just to be clear, if we traded Lee (resigned in the $12-14M dollar range (maybe more considering what Boozer just got), wouldn't we have to take back $12-14M in salary to balance it out? Isn't that right? We'd only be taking back about $6M in total salary with this proposed trade...I like keeping that cap room open, don't get me wrong, but is it possible? GS looks like they have a lot of gauranteed salary on the books for next season. They look real close to the cap -- not sure how they'd be able to take Lee at $12-14M or higher and only give up $6M? Or does Lee take a lot less in yr. 1?? Can someone explain how this all plays out with this deal between us and GS...

I believe that if a team is under the salary cap, they do not have to worry about salaries matching in trades. Hypothetically, we could trade Lee at a $12 to 14 mil salary and only take back a player making the league min.

The Knick would not be the problem-the team receiving Lee would have the problem if Lee puts them over the cap

I think that as long as one of the two teams is under the cap, neither team has to worry about salaries matching. I could be wrong though.

Some reports have Turiaf coming with Randolph. Maybe a new formula-big or tough up front with shooters on the edge and Amare roaming the middle with Gallo.

For what it is worth:

Disclaimer: This is completely speculation

I have a friend who works the NBA offices in NYC. When he sends me rumors, he's usually right on. The deal may not go through, but usually an article eventually comes out that the deal was discussed. I texted him about my dislike of the Outlaw deal. He told me the Nets are trying to get into the David Lee S&T to GSW where we'd end up with Monta Ellis.

Again, take it for what it is. He has nothing to say about who we'd send and where. I'm trying to email every Nets beat writer about it too.

From the Nyets' RealGm forum.

We don't have to take on Ellis in this scenerio, but I assume we get Randolph, Turiaf and whomever, and GS can clear cap space and give Curry control of their team.

Don't know the particulars, but would this make sense?

I think D'Antoni would want Ellis more than Randolph. I really hope we get Randolph and save the point for Parker.

Rumor now is a 3-team trade between Minny/Knicks/Warrios. Lee to Minny. Jefferson to GSW. Ellis to Knicks.

No LeBron but a Amare/Ellis summer would be great.

PG-Ellis
SG-The Mayor
SF-Gallo
PF-Amare
C-?? Jerome Jordan ??

Bench-TD, Rautins, Fields, Walker, Curry

That's not bad.
