Here's what I hear from yesterday: LeBron interested in Nets pitch but not so much NY. NY trying at moment to secure Amare' to help cause

What are the chances this is based on the "Tremendous" comment?

no idea at this point. i think if the knicks can secure amar'e that helps their chances immeasurably. BUT, i think amar'e is more likely going to follow lebron's lead on this as opposed to saying "i'm going to NY, join me there."

bron is the alpha in this scenario.

wade is probably getting bosh in miami. i'm assuming bron will go to chicago, new jersey or new york with amar'e. but i think lebron will choose which one.

knicks are meeting amar'e on monday, when bron makes his decision. i think bron's decision determines whether the knicks will work out a contract on monday or just be a kind of friendly visit before amar'e takes a jet to wherever bron tells him to go.

i think there's the very real chance we could be shut out. god help us if dlee signs somewhere over the weekend.

I checked out the Sun board... interesting. Suns fans would prefer a S&T for Eddy Curry then have Amare walk for nothing. Either that or a TPE that might net them another player.

A S&T for Lee/Amare doesnt sit well with me. If we could max out and lock up Amare asap we would know about Lebron in a couple of days and that would leave Lee as our ace in the hole.

A Lee + Amare frontcourt works just fine for me.

In their quest to land either of the top two free-agent power forwards – Chris Bosh or Amar’e Stoudemire – the Houston Rockets have been offering Trevor Ariza, Shane Battier and free agent Luis Scola in potential sign-and-trade packages, league sources said.

Scola obviously would have to agree to a sign-and-trade because he’s a free agent. If the Rockets can’t get either Bosh or Stoudemire, they will push forward in negotiations to re-sign Scola.

Lee + Amare = No defense. They would need to put up 60 a game to make up for what they give up on the other side.

Not sure they have stats for points per game given up by defensive lapses attributed to individual players.

Fish kinda set you up cause he has been touting the FG % against numbers for Amare for about a week now, and they are fairly convincing.

I didnt mean to come off as a snit man... check those #s out.

I'm not a big stats guy. I like to watch the games and come to my own conclusions. How many Suns game did I watch last year? 4? 5? I never saw the zero D from Amare people blast him for. Lazy at times yes. Conserving energy (or burning it) on offense yes. Taking a play off yes. But its worth looking at the numbers. Opposing players FG% are EXTREMELY low against Amare. In fact after some looking around the only frontcourt guys I could find who held their opponenets to lower were Dwight Howard and Kevin Garnett.

Look at the opposing FG% vs Bosh then compare to Amare. Think there is a reason Amare's team had the best 2nd half in the NBA and Bosh's had one of the worst?

Its not just that Amare outscores his opponent. He's vastly more efficient, which is what really makes him great.

As Knicks officials continued their whirlwind free-agent tour on Friday, they quietly crept toward a possible agreement with the one star player with whom they have yet to meet: Amar’e Stoudemire.

The Knicks have made Stoudemire a $100 million contract offer, the maximum allowed, according to a person involved in the talks, and are awaiting the chance to convince him in person. A meeting in New York could come as soon as Sunday. The person requested anonymity because he was discussing private negotiations.

The chances of landing Stoudemire increased dramatically on Friday when he broke off negotiations with the Phoenix Suns. The Suns quickly reached a deal with another power forward, Hakim Warrick, effectively signaling the end of Stoudemire’s eight-year run in Phoenix.

“It wasn’t the right deal,” Stoudemire’s agent, Happy Walters, told the Arizona Republic. He added, “He’ll be sad to leave his teammates and the city he loves but it’s time to move on.”

While the Knicks await a decision from LeBron James, Stoudemire could become the first major figure in their rebuilding plan. But first they will have to sell him on that plan, which might require more than extending a max offer of $99.7 million over five years.

Like many star players, Stoudemire is said to be wary of coming to New York without assurances that another elite player would join him. The Knicks would surely use an agreement with Stoudemire as an added enticement to James and Dwyane Wade. But if those players sign elsewhere, which seems likely, Stoudemire could find himself cast in the unenviable role of franchise savior.

Having purged the payroll to clear cap room, the Knicks are left with a depleted roster. Just five players are under contract — Danilo Gallinari, Wilson Chandler, Toney Douglas, Bill Walker and Eddy Curry — and there are no stars among them.

Seems Amare is waiting to see if anyone can make a more appealing offer. i.e. Play in his home state of Florida or team up with another star.

ah come on. I don't want this guy using us. What's the hold up. Please don't tell me he is still holding out for the Heat or the Bulls. And if this guy talks to the Nets I say screw him and rescind the offer.

I mean just agree verbally. No need to meet with others if you agree verbally much like Gay has done.
