Teams that have overpriced contracts that want to replace it with an expiring one. Don't know if the Spurs are that sort of team, but I wouldn't be surprised considering the age of their roster.

Spurs run a ton of pick and rolls.

I would have to watch enough Spurs games to comment, but one of the keys to D'Antoni's offense is the spread pick and roll. That requires the PG to be able to knock down 3s at a high enough rate to prevent the defense from cheating on him. You want to create a switch that puts the opposing guard on our C or allows the PG to have space to knock down 3s when they don't. But if the PG can't knock down 3s, no one has to switch. The defense can just allow the PG to throw up bricks (see Duhon). Parker is about 30% from beyond the arc. That's not only not good, it's POOR! I don't get this move at all.

how many rings does Tony Parker have?

Experience counts for something, but Parker would have to fit the mould we need for MDA's PG. If he can't hit three's, why are we looking? Unless, perhaps, MDA isn't part of DW's rebuild plans.

Chandler cant hit 3's either and he is a big part of the plans. We all gotten lighten up on that type of qualification for MDA's system.

Chandler can't hit them, but D'Antoni gave him the green light to shoot them until it became so obvious he was terrible, they finally had to scrap the idea. That doesn't change the fact that they still want him to shoot them and improve enough this off season to get the green light again.

Chandler will be traded if we get Lebron and Bosh.

I'd rather the Spurs trade Parker and Ava to the clippers. She can still have a career in LA.

Spurs have not been the same the last few years.

They need someone to fill the void left by Jumping Jackie (blue) Butler!

Eddy can be that man.

Getting Parker before the free agency could be very vital to our success getting free agents. Once you get him i think we can lock in Bosh first with the idea that Parker is the best player he has ever played with. Then i think it's almost definite we get either lebron, wade, johnson, or gay. If we get Parker, big man (Bosh, Amare, Boozer, or Lee) and star wing (Lebron, Wade, johnson, or Gay) to go with Gallo, we are a deep playoff team regardless of the combination.

I think SA may consider Curry, Chandler, and Douglas for Parker but i would like to only deal either Chandler or Douglas so we should look for a 3-way trade. If the Hornets draft a center we could make a draft day trade to send Curry and Chandler to them, OK4 to SA, and Parker to NY. NOH saves a lot of money, and gets a nice young talent in chandler, SA saves a little money to help them compete for Splitter, and they get a nice a big man to support Duncan, and we get the star power we need to kick off free agency with Parker.

i'm still not getting why in the world people think SA takes curry for parker, who's also an expiring. because we add chandler and douglas??? only walsh makes a deal like that, when he took the BS mcgrady deal. in case no one noticed, SA does not make layden-thomas-walsh come-f**k-me deals.

Well the rumor just said they would try. It did not say they would succeed.

What exactly is the going rate for an aging pg, on an aging team that is treading downward?

Aging? You make him sound over the hill. He just turned 28. He's got at least 5 good years of very high quality play left.

His game is predicated on speed, not skill and there are a lot of miles on those legs. He's barely a top 10 PG in the game, currently speaking. So what exactly is the going rate for this cat? His best days are gone. Truth.

No way San Antonio trades Tony Parker for an expiring contract and a mediocre talent like Wilson Chandler. I'm not even sure they would do Parker for a S&T David Lee. But assuming they did, we would only have room for 1 MAX plus about $5M to sign another player. Parker in a way would be labled as one of our MAX FA's.

That's correct. Wilson Chandler is mediocre aka a role player/not an All-Star. Not enough for Tony Parker.

classic example of knick fans comically undervaluing their own talent, while overvaluing another talent.

No, just another example of not overvaluing a player just because he plays for the Knicks. Wilson Chandler is a good, average, 15/5 player on a bad team. He's not a future All-Star. He's an average, mediocre, rotation player. Nothing special and not enough to get the PG of a 3 time NBA Champion like Tony Parker. If you think Chandler for Parker is an even trade, that's just crazy.

A cat that puts up 15 pts, in essentially his second season, at 22 years of age is not mediocre. IF you put him on any other squad, you guys wouldnt even think of marginalizing him like that.

We need to trade all that for Parker who is on the downside of his career? Isiah is that you my brotha????????????????

First off Parker is 28. Not on the downside at all. And what is all that? Chandler and/or Douglas? Nice role players but they've proven jack thus far. Parker is a proven all-star with 3 rings. He's a guy with cred and we haven't had much of that the last 10 years.

Wonder if Knicks can do a Sign/Trade with Spurs using David Lee and perhaps NY can pry another
2011 draft pick from SA as part of deall so David Lee doesnt walk for nothing.

Lee would fit good in SA Popovich system and we'd get the talented Lee out of NBA-east
even though I'd like to see Lee come back for right circumstance where out $cap isnt affected.
only an opinion

Seems to me the only way we are getting parker for Curry is to sign and trade Lee to a 3rd party and send Curry along with the picks and prospects we get for the Lee sign and trade over to San An.
