These guys play 82 games a year, excluding playoffs, practices, weight training etc. The offseason is imo for relaxing a couple of months and then maybe work on your game. You'll go crazy and get tired of playing bball if you don't have at least some time off - at least that's how I felt when I didn't have a summer off from constant bball.

My advice to Wil: Roll it up, light it up, inhale, exhale, don't get caught.

I think Chan already get you memo.
Eddy Curry is a great example of offseason relaxation too.

Eddy Curry isn't even relevant to any of this. He's on a whole other level. What I'm saying is just that I don't Fault the guys for letting loose in the offseason - and smoking a blunt around 4-5 months before you are going to play your next NBA game is more than okay with me.

Chan oughta microwave his balls so he could get some medicinal shyt and go around singing Buffalo souljah.

haha. You spit some wacky stuff sometimes. I'm still trying to figure out of you're on the level with some of the posts you direct at me. I hope you're not serious with this.

Do you throw insults to people like this in person who have arguements with you? If I happen to disagree with you frequently, it's no offense. I just disagree.

BTW, I'm manning up because I overlooked a detail in that article myself:
Chandler, who had a 22-year-old passenger, was arrested and charged with criminal possession of marijuana. He was given a desk appearance ticket.

Not sure what to think overall other than it's a stupid thing for anyone to do. Being part of the Knicks (or any franchise) it makes it even dumber since you are held to a higher standard. Yet I wonder if his drug use is related to his on the court problems. Let's face facts, Chandler has some really good moments and then some of the dumbest moments you've ever seen. I don't need anyone to tell me that when you smoke you do and say some really dumb stuff even if you were "clean" for a day it's still with you. I've smoked maybe 5 times in the last 6 years now and only a hit or two at that when someone happens to stop by and has it or I happen to be out somewhere and someone has it. Prior to that I was a major pothead among other things. So I won't vilify Chandler for smoking but all the same it's a real dumb thing to do especially in his situation.

Now, here's the deeper story and it's really dumb of him. We can cut the "Racist Cops" crap out too. Anyone citing this as a defense of Chandler's actions is ignorant.

====================

Knicks' Wilson Chandler charged with drug possession

NEW YORK - Knicks swingman Wilson Chandler was charged Wednesday with a minor drug offense after police said they found marijuana in his car during a traffic stop.

Police stopped Chandler at a corner in Queens on Tuesday night around 11:15 p.m. for driving his Mercedes Benz with the headlights off. When the officers approached the car, they smelled marijuana, police said. A passenger in the front seat, Lamonte Yarbrough, admitted to the officers he had been smoking pot, police said.

The officers recovered a plastic bag of marijuana from the console inside the car and five other small plastic bags from the trunk, weighing a total of under 2 ounces, Queens District Attorney Richard Brown said.

Chandler, 23, and Yarbrough, 22, were charged with 5th degree criminal possession of marijuana, a misdemeanor. They were given desk appearance tickets and must appear in court July 1. They were not taken into police custody.

A Knicks spokesman said the team would be issuing a statement. It wasn't clear whether the men, both from Benton Harbor, Mich., had attorneys.

====================

If that was NJ, they both get arrested and taken to county. Their car is impounded. Fines would be 750$+. So they should both be so fortunate that NYC is relaxed with marijuana laws.

More...

Chandler, who had a 22-year-old passenger, was arrested and charged with criminal possession of marijuana. He was given a desk appearance ticket.

Word of Chandler's arrest stunned and angered his grandmother, 76-year-old Olivia Chandler of Benton Harbor, Mich.

"I don't know about pot in his car, I ain't heard nothing from him yet," she told The Daily News. "I didn't raise him to smoke pot."

Asked about Chandler's recent state of mind, the grandma said "he just had surgery."

The 6-foot-8-inch forward missed the final month of play after suffering a groin strain and was scheduled to undergo sports hernia surgery.

Chandler's uncle said he too was shocked by the arrest.

"Ah goodness, I didn't think he messed with that stuff," said Al Chandler, 50, of Temple Hills, Md. "He's a good guy. Obviously he must have been in the wrong place at the wrong time."

the weed thing is nothing..it's driving while impaired thats more of a concern..there are lots of peeps who would jump or drive in front of a mercedes just to collect insurance..and if you're driving a nice car under the influence thats a major problem

It's the start of a long offseason, folks. Who cares? If this happened during the season, I'd be pretty peeved, but it's the summer, let him unwind. People who say he should be in the gym working out instead...this isn't Eddy Curry we're talking about here lol.

I wasnt even trying to insult you --- and hell yeah, I talk to people like that. I'm one of those new aged, opinionated young bosses.

But bruh, I was tryin' to give you an out, because your post was absurd. How does the mere act of smoking or drinking indicate a pyschological defect? There is no tangible connective tissue with the act itself.

Now if he was caught touching on some little kid, or if he beat the hell out of his grandma, then that act alone could inform you that he's got something wrong. But a lil puff?

And yeah, hardcore consistent abuse could lead to mental wear and tear, but we've seen nothing to suggest in his past or his present that there is any hint of substance abuse. Recreational drugs are just a way to feel instant comfort, just like people would rather eat sloppy ass MCdonalds insted of preparing a healthy meal knowing damn well that food kills. Immediate gratification.

Its like finding out a bunch of rapists chew gum so you make the correlation that purchasing gum could indicate a psychological disorder.
