Outrebounded them 50-37, even without Lee. We had 6 guys with over 5 rebounds. Brand and Dalembert should have feasted on the small team we put out there tonite. In a meaningless game we showed some hustle and fight.

But I thought King said that Lee was the key. Without Lee we would get out-rebounded by 50 and lose by 70...

with our 2 best players out we fought & played this game w/some guts... little wonder Toney Douglas was the key to the win tonight... i would've much preferred to see him playing big minutes from the very beginning of the season even though his rookie growing pains just based off his effort & hustle alone... this kid is fun to watch... took the coach long enough to realize it... but of course MDA will be credited for allowing him to learn from the bench by some... i'm just glad TD is showing every night what a bad mistake it was by not playing him sooner.

He is playing well because let's face it the Sixers stink just as much as the Knicks do. You put on active and skilled 4 or 5 on him in the post he will have a lot trouble like in Boston. He seems better suited to play against shorter players at this point.

Do you guys still want Dalembert. Still waiting for him to develop offensively.

that is not really fair. first of all, garnett is still too savy and skilled for most if not all 21 year old bigs in this league... but vs Atlanta gallo had a great game, and that team is very long and athletic...

He could have help, no?

Outplayed Holiday. He is a gamer, and has the offensive skills to be a take charge guy at the end of the game.

I like Douglas but I would give him up for Holiday in a minute. 24 year old talent vs. 19 year old that you can argue on similar levels.

I agree- and Holiday is the guy I thought we would take after Curry was off the board, but Douglas is our guy now, and he seems to be able to play at a level which none of us could have anticipated when we drafted him. Still needs to work on his decision making in terms of passing, but he seems to be able to rise to the occasion on defense and offense.

i think Holliday has a chance to become another Rajon Rondo w/better shooting from the perimeter but i'm happy with TD... i love the way he carries himself & kid has balls of steel in crunchtime... u can't teach that kinda stuff... u either have it or u don't... TD has it.

The way the rooks were treated on this team is crazy. Hill has 5 pts, 4 rebs and 2 blks in 14 minutes so far tonight. How D'Antoni just gets away with being so incompetent at his job is maddening.

26mins...11pts....7rebs....5BLOCKS?....playing in crutch time?

And Dantoni supposed to be this great coach?

pisses me off everytime i see a statline like that from a kid we should never have traded to begin with... i swear to God the people that run this franchise just don't get it... when u have talented young guys like Jordan Hill on your team, the idea is to play those guys & not give them away for cap space!

He is looking pretty stupid and stubborn. I am not sure why Walsh is not getting rid of him. The only reasons I can come up with are loyalty, and not wanting to admit to making a mistake. I am not sure which is the case but D'Antoni is looking pretty beaten down at this point so maybe Walsh is putting on a bit of pressure.

We don't know how to groom young talent anymore....And living in AZ, I was told by almost everybody, Dantoni doesn't play rookies....

So if thats the case, I would've traded the pick, and at least got one of those PG's....

Fair and according to his coach accurate. His coach brought this up during the post game interview from the Celtics. KG wasn't using a lot of savvy but some old fashion hustle. He got to spots quicker than Gallo. As I noted in that gamethread. No one was around to talk about it though.

maybe fair for that game, but not fair overall as it seems you are implying...therefore my example of the Hawks game.... Dantoni may have been talking about that one game, but I don't think he will agree with your statement..

You put on active and skilled 4 or 5 on him in the post he will have a lot trouble like in Boston.

the hawks game contradicts that.....

But honestly any active and skilled bigman is trouble for any player in the league... usually those guys are the Garnetts, amare's bosh's and boozers...

+1

as for TD, could it possibly be that he wasn't ready as he is now?

he showed us some good stuff early this season, but his jumper was not as on as it has been of late, nor was he showing as good a PG skills.

some players do actually improve.

sure, maybe Douglas would have helped us, but with consistency?

so far it's been a few games, and it's nice to see.

without lee other guys either had to step up or not.

i thought it was a nice win, the first game i've really watched in a while, which was enjoyable and maybe a nice stepping stone for our young players.

what's done is done. right now i'd like to see the young players keep getting time, and it appears they are.

I might be jumping the gun a little bit but I think Toney Douglas might be our best young player. I think he's more talented and has more potential then Danilo Gallinari, who I just don't think is THAT good, and Wilson Chandler. I love Douglas' defense. He has the potential to be one of the best, maybe even top 5, perimeter defensive guards in the league. And his shooting is very good and his athleticism allows him to be a decent scorer. His playmaking skills improve with every game. Douglas should be penciled in as the starting PG next season and beyond. Best of all? He'll be the perfect PG fit for LeBron James.

I feel the same way. I think I'm higher on Gallo than you, but I don't think he's the next Dirk either. I'm pretty sure management feels the same way as the lotto pick Hill was packaged in salary dump, which I was thrilled about. Douglas just seems like a winner.

I also agree with PresIke. If the Knicks had just ridden him from day one would he be playing like he is now? Debatable. Either way, he's being put into a position where he's more likely to succeed. The fans and media aren't going to scream about how much he sucks and why he should be yanked form the starting lineup now
