Terrible loss... I really don't like this offense. It underutilizes guys like gallo and chandler.. gallo becomes a statue in the corner and honestly he has to start bringing his game in some.. teams know he can drive, but they also know he prefers the deep shot.. and right now they are trying to stop what he prefers... he has to adjust..

chandler has to play closer to the basket. slash more, his rebounds are down and his shot selection is iffy..

Not sure I like gallo, chandler and lee together.. today they combined 11-37 shooting, and this iso pickand roll offense really doesn't allow us to diversify this offense.. I thought dantoni would have more of a passing and moving offense.. shut down the pick and roll and you have a one on one, free for all, and that is just not our strength...

from espn recap -- "It was an embarrassing effort lowlighted when Jared Jeffries botched a layup on the break and the ball was batted off his head out of bounds on the rebound."

again with this... when does a game count? in the 1st quarter? the 4th quarter of a game doesn't count?

Knicks on offense. Harrington just holding the ball in the post.
Finally he showels it to Gallo in the low box. Gallo sorta flips up a shot, he rebounds his miss though and tips it home.

Terry answers with a jumper on the other end.

Jordan Hill comes back around with the automatic sounding jumper.
His buckets have a distinct sound.

Benedict Josh Howard answers with a heartbreaking three.

JJ gets fouled and sent back to the line .. makes the first.
Dirk checks out of the game, but not before saying hi to D'antoni on the way to the bench. (D'antoni is beloved!)
JJ makes the second FT. 6-6 on FTs!

Knicks down 41-36

when JJ is carrying your offense, you know you're in trouble... he kept us in it early but he is the absolute last person on this team i wanna see taking shots.

i agree w/u on the sound of Jordan Hill's J... he gets good rotation on the ball & has a real fluid shooting stroke... uses a lot of wrist rather than arm... i think D Lee is the opposite, seems to almost push his J rather than flick or sling it.

in a blowout loss in garbage minutes is the only time a game doesn't count... the first 3 quarters of a game are never garbage minutes no matter what the score because you're always trying to get back into the game... most of the time the 4th quarter is the most important minutes of a game because that's when many games are decided... i just can't lend any credence when someone says Gallo only shoots well when the game counts... that doesn't even mean anything to me unless u give me specifics & stats to back it up... if u wanna say he shoots a crappy percentage over his 1st 5 shot attempts, that's one thing, but those shot attempts can occur at any point in a game, & every game counts until it becomes a ridiculous blowout with no hope of staging any comebacks.

well that is my point.. to label the first 5 shots of a game as "when it counts" is ridiculous... when it counts can be a small brief period of the game.. it can be a 5 minutes span with your team down 8 about to go into a double digit deficit. It can be the last 5 minutes of a tied game.. it can be the last minute of a 1 point game.. I mean there are so many variables here..

Unfortunately I didn't get to see the game. Hard to fathom losing by 50 even in garbage time.

Could not see the game today, but it sounds like the usual suspects are just coming out of their caves and being haters again.

It really comes down to some form of self-validation. Some folks just have a need to justify their opinion/belief that a certain player should not have been chosen when we chose him, and they just can't let it go, even though the decision cannot be undone, and the player they dislike has made significant progress from last season to this one, or not really had a chance to prove himself. They will latch onto anything which they feel justifies their stand, never pausing to stand back and take a look at the big picture, or looking at the positive achievements of the player they dislike.

Ironically, these are the same people who will not (can not?) make the same effort to look critically at players they liked/or wanted who have not measured up.

There are actually some deep seated psychological issues at play here for these folks, and although it annoys me that they continue to harp on certain things, I do feel a sense of pity for them.

You get this kind of attitude directed at Gallinari, and you will continue to get it from some for Hill, I would expect, and any future pick or acquired player they do not like.

Kind of annoying to read, but it is something I accept from certain posters.

boy, you hit the nail on the head!!! And honestly, it is getting annoying, because it seems as if their purpose is to annoy instead of offer up reasonable and insightful debates. And the reactions are all the same..

It started with anthony randolph, now he is hurt, and his name is almost as foreign as JR Reid.

Then we play and lose to the kings, and our core guys suck and theirs are filled with stars... Since then, the kings have been on of the worst teams in the league... No comment about that tho?

last year it was gallo is hurt and he is a bust. He is having a very good year, and we are nitpicking things like, his first 5 shots of the game.. LOL.. really man.. go figure.. it is absolutely ridiculous..

I know there are posters in here who wanted other players, but at least they could put the dissapointment behind them, and farily judge the players we have and honestly root for them.. and to those posters, I take my hat off...

usually when the typical suspects have nothing to say the Knicks are playing well (unfortunately the opposite is true today), or you hear some spin about how they always kept an open mind on kids like Gallo or Jordan Hill when everyone knows it wasn't the case... these cats are living in denial & lacking any capacity to admit they were wrong about anything, or to acknowledge the fact that maybe they were at least a little unfair in their pre-judgement about certain players... i respect anyone's ability to admit they were wrong & man up if they were.

Close game
Wow, what happened? Looking at the box score, looks like everyone was cold and the Mavs were hot. The Mavs were due, they were in a shooting slump the last few games. The Knicks? I guess, they were still asleep.
Duhon's slump is getting ridiculous.

It was all Nate's fault. He was smiling on the side line. Bad Bad Nate! All his fault.

exactly.. but it is the denial and then the attempt to make it seem as if others are being irrational is what gets under my skin.. just admit it and move on.. I can respect that..

Now THAT is the Knicks we have all come to know and love over the past 9 years!

I flipped back and forth and just kept shaking my head.

Whenever you lose or win by 50 it's a bit of a fluke though so I don't make too much into it.

I expected to lose by 15-20 to be honest. Then when I heard Dallas had so many injuries I though hey maybe we lose by 10-15 in a somewhat close game until the end.

But they just got murdered. To some degree it's not even as if they gave up and just let it happen. They just couldn't stop the Mavs from scoring and well we couldn't run our offense at all.

Lee got abused by Gooden and I think that kills this Knicks team right there forcing the rest to try to create for themselves which they cannot do.

Which one was worse: this or "104-59" in Boston?

I lean towards the latter since that one was on TNT for everyone to see - including the entire fourth quarter of the TNT crew just burying us and that guy in the stands throwing his NYK gear on the court and leaving the arena.
