I wouldnt buyout Nate to send him to Boston. You think George Steinbrenner would do that? Nate is a very good bench player--why would we make the Celtics better than they are?

Actually Id like to get something--anything via a trade--nate is too good just to buyout. This is not a washed up 30 something year old guy with a max contract that went 1 year too long.

Memphis was just look at Wafer plis they have cap room--how about Steven Hunter+2nd rounder for Nate--Hunter played well for mDA before.

100% agreed. No Nate buyout.

Knicks already did him a solid by not forcing him to sign just the QO. Nate can do the solid by making sure a trade goes through.

i dont think nate will try to block any trades - i think he knows that if he latches onto a team, playoffs bound or not, at worst its only for a few months rental period for him to showcase his game...then, he can pursue a contract w a real squad.

makes sense no?

This was from Chris Sheridan the other day

"Robinson does want out, and a source close to the Robinson camp tells ESPN.com there's one place the former slam-dunk champion would truly like to land if a trade can be worked out: Boston.

If that can't happen, Robinson wants a buyout, believing he will be able to sign with one of the top contending teams in the league, including the Lakers, Cleveland and Orlando -- the thinking being that he can provide the instant offensive boost for any of those teams that he once provided for the Knicks."

also

"One source close to the Knicks said the list of teams that Robinson would accept a trade to could be described as "slim and/or none."

Nates a MLE player next year. Someone will give him pretty much a full MLE type deal I think. What he needs to do is play ball. Dude can really score, he's a finisher. People here have forgotten how well he played last year. He single handedly won us half the lousy games we did win. He was diving on the floors, getting rebounds in traffic... this talk about him being waived is insane to me.

If I am DW I am telling him to practice hard and be patient. Let him earn his way out of the doghouse. ITs a long season and Duhon is good for like half of it. We are going to need him

If Nate does not appease a trade--than Nate can sit on his arse all year and go into FA looking for teams to offer him 3 years 6mm

i think TT would be used in much the same capacity that Fishlips is being used now, only off the bench... he'd bring some shotblocking that we really don't have right now... Gallo & Fishlips will get a few blocks but they're not the shotblockers that TT is... anyway we will need to expand the rotation sooner or later, we can't keep running Fishlips out there for 35+ a night... we're playing well now but it's gonna catch up with us at some point... Hughes also needs to be rested, he's not the most durable of players out there... u can shift Fishlips to the 3 spot at times & play TT at the 4, or vice versa & have Chandler play the 2 & Hughes run the point during certain rotations... that gives u good defense at all 4 of those positions & will make up for Lee's weak defense inside... when u need scoring u bring in Harrington & Gallo.

Definitely gives MDA more options and, IMHO, makes us a better team. I definitely cosign this trade

we're not dealing w/George Steinbrenner here, we're talking about James Dolan... he's bought out plenty of players before that had no more future on this team... Jalen Rose, Steve Francis, Mo Taylor, Stephon Marbury to name a few... all of those guys were bought out for a ton more money than it will require to buyout Nate... yeah they were all past their primes but we're talking about an owner that bought out Jalen Rose for ~$15 mil, he's not gonna blink at buying out Nate for $2 mil if Donnie Walsh asks him to.

of course you'd like to get something back in a trade, who wouldn't? but the fact is Nate can keep pushing for a buyout or this situation can become contentious & we've all seen Walsh doesn't like to have those kinds of situations fester for too long.

Absolutely agree. The Knicks hold the cards here, not Nate.

Memphis was just look at Wafer plis they have cap room--how about Steven Hunter+2nd rounder for Nate--Hunter played well for mDA before.

"The Grizzlies decided not to sign guard Von Wafer on Tuesday after he took a physical.

Memphis believes that Wafer is suffering from injuries that won't allow him to play right away.

According to the Memphis Commercial Appeal, the Grizzlies are also interested in a sudden trade proposal."

I've been going over every team seeing where Nate would fit and also where there trade would be cap friendly--where we would get something of need.

If you remember S Hunter played very well under MDA--MDA knows him and the salaries match--Memphis has 4 C. I would think however that we would need a pick here--likely 2nd round. Getting an athletic C and a 2nd round pick is better than nothing.

Remember who drafted Steven Hunter out of Depaul--you got it--our as GM John Gabriel

How many teams in the NBA have a shtty bench? I would say 75% of them--even some of the top tier one's. Maybe Nate is ultimately not a fit here but as a sixth man who can bring scoring and energy off the bench for some of these teams void of bench scoring? That is worth more than S Hunter and Memphis 2nd rounder but for some reason I think thats it.
