The argument I'm hearing from the pro-A.I. is:
Sign A.I. for the remainder of the season because:
- this team sucks right now and I want to watch us with a former All-Star,
- it will lead to a few more wins than we are on track for, and more watchable games for Knicks fans, and that's what matters right now,
- the wins won't get us in the playoffs but his gritty play & winning desire will likely rub off on our yoots,
- if don't go well in the locker room we can just waive him,
- even if this worst-case scenario happens, it is very unlikely there could be negative ramifications for the upcoming offseason
Am I on target here?
Because I'm willing to concede the possibility of a Nate, Toney Douglas or Gallo catching a vibe offa A.I.'s swagger. Which may be a good or bad thing in the eye of the beholder.
I argue the 10 extra wins (tops) don't do much. A shallow "feel good" losing season that ends in April based on rent-a-talent.
But who can convince me that D'Antoni & his system will benefit from this transaction? Because along with our yoots, he's supposed to be here next year too.
And do you really want that media circus? I wouldn't put it past the Post to plant guns on this man, they would have such a hard-on to make this guy look like a thug.
