Evidently

caseloads - Please stop with the ridiculously negative comments that Wilson Chandler looks like he coasting. That is the same thing writers said about Duane Thomas of the Cowboys or Jerry Rice of the 49ers as they were blowing by defenders. You ever take the time to study how graceful the 6'8 240 pound Lebron James moves? No wasted effort.

He looks like he is coasting doesn't he?

The Mayor is a graceful and coordinated 6'8, 240. The next time you see a dude that big move so fluidly, please find another adjective other than coasting.

Please.

Why can't Darko improve his basketball IQ?

I mean, really...

I went through this when I played. I did not show emotion. I didn't pump my fist. I didn't yell and scream. I smiled a lot. I never argued with refs. I looked smooth when I ran and when I dribbled. I didn't blow by people, I used stop and starts to get to my spots. Everyone said I coasted through games. Everyone except the people I played against.

I think Chandler will eventually need to learn not to be just another cog on a bad team, but actually step up and become one of the leaders. This has not happened yet, but it's only year 3(essentially year 2 because of how little time he got year 1). I'm not sure how anyone can have a problem with how he has progressed so far.

Has Stephon Marbury taught you nothing Bip?

I think Hill has the goods. 1st of all, he already has a very good stroke and we know that any big we get has to have that. He has a great standing vert and if you watch the game again you'd notice that he simply takes the ball away from guys standing right next to him. He of course hasn't put it all together, but he was KNOWN to be raw when he entered the draft. If we're gonna judge him based on how the other guards in the draft look in year one then why even bother?

Let me reiterate, that in this offense you can't just play like Balkman and everything will be alright. You have to play SMART and skilled ball here. Hill has a low BB IQ right now, cuz he's new and he wasn't developed in college. He just played with energy against small comp like many college bigs do. Here tho he has to fit into a specific role or else he's just out there looking lost. MDA's system is a very fluid but well oiled machine and each player has to understand what is happening. Hill clearly doesn't know the plays that way yet. Give him time.

sebstar goodpoint on ward. ward had no hoop cred no opposing player feared him. he made a nba career for himself thanks to his resume and he rarely caused management headaches.

Ward was no star, but he was a solid player on some good Knicks teams.

Who cares if players fear you? ...And what the heck is "hoop cred" and is there a panel who determines your cred rating?

By the way, I thought that Ward did cause some problems in his later years his Christianity became a little too uncomfortable for some folks.

the management back then was as highly religious as ward and houston-- thats why those bible thumpers got paid more than their actual worth.

it was actually some anti-semetic stuff. here's the synopsis from wiki:

Controversy

In 2001, while a player for the New York Knicks, it was discovered that Charlie Ward had made some disparaging comments about Jews during a Bible-study session, comments that were eventually leaked to the press. Among the comments made: "Jews are stubborn... tell me, why did they persecute Jesus unless he knew something they didn’t want to accept... They had his blood on their hands."

There was an expected amount of outrage directed at Ward from Jewish groups, as well as the Knicks organization and the public at large. Ward defended himself by indicating that "I didn't mean to offend any one group because that's not what I'm about. I have friends that are Jewish. Actually, my friend is a Jewish guy, and his name is Jesus Christ." He also noted that the quotes were taken out of context, as he had stated that "Jews are stubborn" in speaking to what he perceived to be their disinclination to convert to Christianity.

Eventually Charlie did apologize for his statements, with his apology being accepted by the Anti-Defamation League.

About the LAST thing I would peg Charlie Ward as is an anti-Semite. This is...I don't know...earth shattering to me, right now, to put it lightly.

You guys seem to point out peoples faults a lot rather than focusing on team accomplishments. Read the 'team' lines. I see the Knicks hung tough on the bords...controlled the ball well when they had it and disrupted the other teams offense.

Some players look to be in mid-season form...Al, Jeffries, Harrington. Some will look different by mid-season. By then who knows maybe Curry is 'Beast of the East'...and the Knicks lead the division. so there.
Bill Simmons on Tyreke Evans "The prototypical 0-guard: Someone who handles the ball all the time, looks for his own shot, gets to the rim at will and operates best if his teammates spread the floor to watch him."

You're letting nostalgia get the better of you, Paladin. What exactly did Charlie Ward do that 95% of half way decent PG's, past and present, couldnt have done? If not better?

Ward was a slightly below average talent. Thats just facts. Imagine if those Knick teams had Tim Hardaway instead?
I never thought he reached the potential he seemed to have coming out of college. My brother-in-law lives in Atlanta and is a big BB fan saw him play a great deal in college, and thought he was going to be a much NBA player than what he ended up being. He only had one 30+MPG year in his career, and in the end you can only look at him as a very solid rotational player who had some success with some very good Knicks teams. Good D starts at the perimeter, and Ward is one reason why many of the JVG teams had good defensive reputations

He fit in well with the teams they had when he played, was a good defender, and helped, more than hurt, his teams. I always wanted him to be a little more aggressive on offense, but that never happened, obviously. Don't know what else you want from a player like Ward, but he stuck around for about 10yrs in the league and helped to quarterback some pretty good Knicks teams.

If Douglas can give us the kind of output that Ward gave us, with a little more scoring (10 PPG??) , I would be pretty happy with those kind of numbers for a backup PG.

I find it funny how so much is being made out of this one game. For one thing We've got Chan and Gallo coming off summers where they couldn't go hard or workout like normal. Yet they still show high talent level and promise. I would expect that they'll look a lot better as the season moves on and they get their legs under them fully.

Darko has to get a pass, cuz the guy is not only new, but playing with a bit of pain in his knee. This offense is gonna eventually be very good for Darko. You can see also that he's gonna help us with his defensive presence. I'm not expecting greatness right away with Darko or Hill, but I do think that with time they'll be developed here to fit roles that will show their talents better.

I also think we did address our PG situation, TD isn't perfect, but then neither was Rondo and he continued to develop and get better. Why not TD. He's got a LOT of good things going already. His shot will come in time and he'll get better in this offense the more he plays in it.
As someone pointed out, this is a panic thread. Attempting to inject any degree of rational perspective into a panic thread is simply unacceptable.

As "Bip" said and Sebstar seconded.

You have your post cred.

Edit: And is this another example of that "post recognition inferiority syndrome (PRIS) " of yours??
