i see a lot of lamarcus aldridge in him, who coincidentally was the 2nd pick of the draft using OUR pick.

aldridge's first 3 yeasrs in the league:

if Jordan Hill put up 9 & 5 his rookie season people would still be expecting a lot more... that's just the nature of NY fans' expectations it seems... they wanna see LaMarcus Aldridge now in Jordan Hill, not Aldridge when he was a rook... it's a shame many Knick fans don't have more patience when it comes to the growth of our young players.

Aldridge played behind Zach as a rookie.

The Five Yoots

"If the Knicks go in the direction (of Sessions) and it appears they will - the obvious will be stated: they will go into the new season against an improved Eastern Conference as the Young Guns.

Sessions is 23 and, along with Toney Douglas (23) is the oldest of the young core, which will include Wilson Chandler, 22, Jordan Hill, 21, and Danilo Gallinari, 20."

- Hahn

Forget the expectations and the scouting reports. Forget Lebron. Do New York Knicks fans have a strong enough stomach, and patience, to tolerate the baby steps of this core crew over the next 2-3 years?

One more thing, Jordan Hill will be fine.

earl, any element of latrell-energy and impact that hill can bring would be great. but i think he's got the potential to be a very good offensive player if he really drills on his moves and adds discipline to them. you could see the difference when he squared up vs jumped at an ungainly angle to gain space. you could see it when he faked then went up strong vs when he faded away. he needs to strengthen his repertoire and learn to work for the good shot rather than for a shot. then he can complement this with his athleticism and energy and unorthodoxy. this kid could visibly improve on a monthly basis for us.

You have to factor the system & position we had him playing in summer league as well as the fact we had another rookie trying to learn the system at the point.

Hill spent most of his time at AZ on the low blocks - posting people up and grabbing rebounds.

In summer league he spent most of his time around the top of the key initiating the offense and rolling or popping to the elbows. He looked pretty good at this for the most part but I don't think he was perfectly comfortable with where his shots were coming from. He looked better over time.

The fact that Douglas was also learning via trial by fire and struggled with his offense couldn't have helped Hill out either.

In addition the weak ass squad we had around these 2 players -- did NOT force the opposition to spread the court or respect the outside shot - thus clogging the lane.

Not trying to make execuses but for me I'm optimistic about both Hill and Douglas.

I was really dissapointed when we initially took Hill but right now I think he was probably the best pick for our team.

LiviingLegend - when scouts describe a player as having a "good motor" it does not translate into anything qualitative. If you play in the NBA without a good motor you are quickly holding a ticket to Bakersfield, Reno or Sioux Falls. The reason I use this descriptor is that it could be that people read scouting reports of college players against college players and get carried away trying to apply excellence to the professional game.

Such random (and vague) accolades are no guarantee of excellence or even a roster spot. It only gets you to the table, or into the first round of The Draft.

Your Summer League description demonstrates an expert analysis of context. Along with the detailed breakdown that Marv provides, Jordan Hill can be viewed as a Knicks player with a unique skill set who only needs an NBA tutor to work through his transition to Broadway.

Having an experienced, agile and gifted 7' partner to work against, one-on-one, on a daily basis would not hurt either.
