Someone last night... Van Gundy or Bilas i think it was, likened Blair to Glen 'Big Baby' Davis.

lol @ being BANNED by Martin since 11/07/10 (for asking if Mr. Earl had a point). Really, Martin? C'mon. This is the internet. I've seen much worse on this site. By Earl himself. Drop the hypocrisy.

Listen to the Toney Douglas interview with Francessa on wfan. He says some nice things. One thing that I really appreciated - Francessa told him that he liked the fact that Douglas was very consistent. Douglas replied that he felt that even when he had a bad offensive game, he could help his team by playing good defense night after night.

Van Gundy shouldnt be up there. He looked confused all night. I think the best guy is Jimmy Dykes. Thats his job--Van Gundy knows 1/10th of college basketball compared to Dykes and Dykes always does a great job of explaining the whole deal . If you put up Jimmy Dykes with Bilas one NBA commentator[I always like Jackson] and Fran--the show would be much better--and make this the last appearance for Dick Vitale.

Its going to be hard to defend 6-6 athletic NBA two guards. Talk is nice but I don't see how his game translates to the NBA. I think the Celtics got a better player at 58.

I just listened to him on Mike Francessa's WFAN page... Douglas sounds like a really decent kid. Not that that means too much, but he sounds like someone that is going to put the effort in and treat people with respect and I think that matters for at least a little

Wow a player sounding professional!

His size will be a disadvantage when he's defending 2's, but at least he'll keep them in front of him. He should be very good defending point guards.

i did like the way he came across in that interview... seems like a pro who will give it all he's got & doesn't have any diva like tendencies to worry about.

He mightve ran great. He's a good college basketball player--I don't see him as much in the NBA.

For those insisting on this guy having problems defending NBA 2s, this guy will mainly guard PGs, at least unless he becomes the team's best backcourt defender, who he seems capable of. I think this guy will back up the 1 and do a better job in a Nate role. His leadership and high BB IQ will help him at 1 running the system when he has to. He'll be the scoring PG Nate can't exactly be.

We couldve really used Dejuan Blair--he's a leader and how many times can you get a guy like that at 29? It was gift wrapped. The guy we drafted is a dime a dozen--if Nick Calathes went 45 where was this guy going? We had a gift wrapped present that we passed on. I would not believe that the NY Knicks didnt have Blair higher on their board than Douglas. A lot of these teams were after foreign players---players just fall for some reason like Boozer did 6 years ago. This was a chance to get a real tough guy who can really play.We havent had that in a LONG time.

I didn't want Malik Rose Jr here and many other teams didn't. I'm happy with Douglas at 29.
Thank you, Rick Brunson.

Blair was obviously the best talent available when we made the pick. Actually, if he didn't have a bad knee, I'd rate Blair ahead of Hill - let alone Douglas. The obvious reason he fell as far as he did is his knee. Sometimes teams do really well drafting injured players who come back strong from health problems. Most teams probably got a medical evaluation on Blair and showed it to their doctors to get specific advice on the players chances of contributing. Without knowing what that report said, I have a hard time judging whether we should have passed on Blair or not.

oh no you didnt!!!! Send closk!

Its not the 6'6 guys that killed us. IT was the 6'3 guys. Everytime we saw one of these little combo guards like Gordon, Wade, etc they dropped 40 on us

I guess they really wanted this kid Douglas. I heard Donnie talk about being on the phone with Toney's agent every 2 picks from like the 20th pick on. Donnie said he told him something like, "look, I can't force the issue here. There's nothing else I can do." It's obvious that the Knicks & Douglas wanted each other bad and that the Knicks were the only team out there willing to give Douglas a promise in the 1st round and a guaranteed contract. That's fine, I can see it from Douglas' POV but here's what Donnie should've told Douglas' agent: "We have real interest but up to a point. I have a team I have to build here and if someone unexpectedly slips, my first obligation is to the team so I might have to go elsewhere with the pick." Well guys did slip. I think Toney Douglas will contribute and be a decent player to replace Nate with, but you don't take him ahead of Blair or even Young for that matter. Blair would've given us awesome depth at the 2 front big spots (Milicic, Hill and Blair could've been a nice brand new young nucleus at the front big spots) and Young would've been an awesome experienced, ready-to-go SF to come up with to replace Chandler in the event we needed to trade Chandler. Nothing against Douglas, I'm sure he'll be a fine 2-way player to replace Nate with, but this was a huge missed opportunity here IMO...

If you are calling Dejuan Blair Malik rose--you never watched him play once.

We may lose David Lee and we had the best rebounding F in college basketball who is obviously under rated because of so-called knee problems[although he never missed a game or practice in two years at PITT]

I think Jordan Hill was a fair pick given what was available in this shtty draft. I know that Im getting a guy who can run the floor rebound and score some points and we needed a guy who is taller than 6-8 in the post. That being said--like Ira mentioned--I don't know if Blair is not just flat out better than Hill at the bottom line. At minimum they are close and you dont get an opportunity to draft guys like this at 29. This guy has lost 30 pounds since the season ended and he was athletic at 290. This guy was the best pick in the draft in terms of value[where he was picked versus talent production level]--and second place isnt that close. Of course he went to the Spurs.
