I have several players I'd prefer over Harden (Curry/Holiday/Jennings/Derozan) for NY, but if he drops out of the top 10 or to the tail end of the lottery, some team might have an absolute gem on their hands.

Honestly, the more I research this draft, the more I like it.

I don't think this draft is nearly as bad as everyone makes it out to be. Perhaps if more players decided to go back to school it would have been a much weaker draft, but for the most part, all of the significant prospects are staying in the draft.

There are so many quality guards to choose from and unlike past drafts, I'm convinced we can get a serious prospect without moving up. Holiday, Curry, Harden, and Rubio are all players that I think would thrive in D'Antoni's system (I should also mention Jennings who I wasn't too fond of a year ago, but he is growing on me). All of the guys that I just mentioned are smart basketball players with great work ethics and the talent to succeed in the NBA.

I'm very pumped for this draft.

I don't think you can look at any stats to see how good a defender is. It can show he's pesky but that's really it.

You HAVE to watch them play.

-Does Rubio let his man go by him easily/frequently?
-Does he get caught up in screens?
-Does he communicate with his teammates?
-How is he closing out on shooters?
-How frequently does he fall asleep? Everybody is going to fall asleep now and then, but the best rarely do it.
-Is he blocking off the charging and passing lanes on the help defense?
-Does he force offensive players into traps, preferably the baseline?

Those are just a few questions you ask about how good a defender Rubio or anyone is. If anyone on this board has seen him play and can answer those questions, then maybe we'll know a little more. Until then, none of us haven't got a stinking clue on how good or poor a defender Rubio is.

tell that to TMS. He mentioned Rubio's perimeter D as a selling point.

ease up sunshine... i only mentioned it because that's the hype on the kid from the scouting reports & the YouTube clips we've all seen... i haven't seen him play any more than anyone else has around here.

I just want size, I don't care where we get it. You look at the playoff teams and the teams that went far and they have size and the ability to guard many positions.

Holiday, Derozan and Evans have to be THE list for the Knicks.

Chandler - 6'8" G/F
Danillo - 6'10" F
Harrington - 6'9" F
Chris Duhon - 6'1" G
Larry Hughes - 6'5" G

That's the basic core right there.

Now you add a 6'3" or a 6'5" point to the mix or a 6'8" shooting guard and you have seriously changed the match-up advantages in most games that you're in.

The only player that makes you blink here is Hill. I don't really have a feel on that guy one way or the other though. On some level, I think that you can get a player like him for cheap where as these guards are tougher to come by.

JW, i completely agree w/ur line of thinking... whether we get my guy Derozan or not, i think we should look to draft a big G... either Rubio, Holiday or Evans... at least 1 of those guys will definitely be there for us at #8 guaranteed... i like Jordan Hill too but like u i think we can nab someone to do many of the same things he can later on in the draft like a Taj Gibson, so i wouldn't be opposed to passing him up as long as we can get Taj w/a later pick.

Looks like a whole bunch of draft stuff happened since last week... and most of it didn't get put into the stickied thread.

Could someone please recap the last week's worth of draft news?

James Harden - NO THANKS.

I've been in that camp for a minute too... I hate how he crapped the bed down the stretch... but at the same time, if he happens to slip to eight I'd be okay with taking him (I think). The mocks had him as a top-5 all year, which might be the reason he is getting hype because those sites can't admit to be wrong EVER. So maybe he doesn't deserve the hype. He seems to have a knack for playing the game though, is cerebral down the stretch, and is a true shooting guard prospect (as opposed to Evans)... I think he could fit on this team as long as the Knicks look into his athleticism thoroughly

I'm not that scarred of players in sports who lay eggs in big games anymore. Just remember, there's lots of guys who play great in the big tourney games and don't turn into much as well.

It's all about maturity and how he develops mentally and eventually the big performances in the big games will come. That's just my thinking though.

By the way, I think Stephon Curry needs to be in the main picture when someone looks up Alligator Arms on wikipedia. 6'3.5"

Nice recent bit of Curry porn from the tubes. If you've never seen Curry play, it's worth watching. It's not as interesting as game tape--it's mostly shot after shot but there are some nice moves in traffic and a few sweet steals.

btw, just adding to the discussion, but did folks see the word on DeRonzan, and how he didn't wow people as much with his athleticism in certain areas (particularly lateral quickness/agility and sprinting)? He did tie for third in leaping ability (with Buddinger)

• On the downside, Pittsburgh's DeJuan Blair has to be bummed. Blair looked solid in the drills and really impressed teams with his weight loss and tone. He also measured short, but his wingspan, standing reach and his athletic abilities made up for much of it.

However, the news became much grimmer for Blair when the results of the medical testing came back. Multiple NBA teams are saying Blair's knees have been red-flagged.

Blair tore both of his ACLs in high school, and the preliminary word from the physicals is that his knees aren't in great shape.

How bad they are depends on who you talk to, but the range wasn't good. I heard everything from "devastating" to "troubling."

Blair's agent, Happy Walters, doesn't feel words like "devastating" are accurate in describing the report he saw.

i'm guessing shaky knees is worse than having stiff legs?

Rumors are circulating that the Thunder could use the third overall pick on USC's DeMar DeRozan.

Oklahoma would play him alongside Kevin Durant, Jeff Green and Russell Westbrook, a lineup that has DeRozan excited.

"That would be great. It would feel good to be in a lineup like that. Kevin Durant's one of the best players in the league, and that would be an opportunity to help build a program from the ground up," DeRozan told HoopsWorld.

Thats a hell of a athletic team right there...

Poor Seattle fans, that team is really turning things around.

you know what, I hope this happens. Just means a player more inclined to be picked by the Knicks will be there.
