Briggs made some good points but I think TMS is right. If Derozan is available he is the better pick. No one seems to talk about Curry's defense? Is he any good on the other side fo the ball?
TKF on Melo ::....he is a punk, a jerk, a self absorbed out of shape, self aggrandizing, unprofessional, volume chucking coach killing playoff loser!!

He is a good defensive player he has great anticipation and plays the lanes well. There was a game where he almost had a triple double where he had 9 steals.

They compare him to Mahmoud Abdul-Rauf on NBA Draft, one of my all-time favorite players. While Rauf was quicker and an unbelievable shot creator, Curry seems more level-headed and doesn't rush things the way Rauf used to. He also seems more interested in defense and passing, something Rauf appeared allergic to. At worst we would have someone who could isolate point guards and spread the floor, at best - maybe a late game "go to" player who also runs the offense. Either way, seems like a decent choice with Nate not likely to be resigned. Not sure at #8 there will be someone with star ability, although there seem to be a lot of potentially very good players. Curry could be a difference maker. I like the comparison, despite some athletic differences.

Derek Rose? are u kidding me dude? that guy has elite level quickness, handle & athletic ability... Curry has none of the 3 & u think he's on the same level as a #1 overall pick? 25 & 8 numbers are sick production man, u're talking about the best of the best in the NBA... if Curry's got that kind of upside then why isn't he being hailed as the next great prospect over guys like Griffin or at the very least Rubio? i'll tell u why, it's because he's undersized, not especially physically gifted, & not especially great at anything other than shooting ability... therefore he projects pretty much as an undersized SG, not as a PG in the NBA... he's gonna have problems translating his game at this level against MUCH bigger, stronger & quicker competition than he played against in college... i wouldn't care if his dad was an NBA Hall of Famer, this kid has limited upside in the NBA if u ask me... 17 & 6 u expect out of him as a rook, i would be surprised if he maxed out at those numbers in his entire career.

If i had to look at what a guy brings to the table versus what I believe the Knicks want--I would almost lock Stephon Curry as our pick. He's a guy who makes plays who has a keen shot rebounds is a good passer and looks like he can play 1 guard. When I am watching the NBA right now it really looks like smaller quick guards are having a field day--guys like Aaron Brooks Tony Parker Rajon Rondo--they are super quick players[not big by any stretch] but it seems the game of basketball is almost made now for a quick guard. IF the Knicks think that Curry can put on size like Chris Paul[who is noticeably thicker than when he played at WF] then you might have somewhat of a comparison although I think Chris Paul is a superior ballhandler and much more of a 1 guard.
There is risk with Curry--I think that they have to do all they can to get some of the guards together and let them go at each other. I remember reading someone saying that Curry would take Jeff Teague apart and personally I dont think he can do it. But lets see the Knicks bring in everyone get them all together and go at each other and see what is what

You listed 3 young quick point guards but there are other players out there as well....

Kidd, D. Williams, Billups, A Miller, D Rose and even B Roy is playing some point guard.

The point is -- there really isn't a mold. You can be big or small, quick or not so quick, a solid shooter or not so great from the perimeter. Much depends on the team and the system but bottom line there is no ONE WAY to contruct a point guard.

Curry doesn't have Paul's speed. Not one bit. Anyone making that comparison is crazy. I refuse to listen anyone that gets on Pat Riley for selecting Dwayne Wade over Macieji Lampe. I don't know how Riley keeps a straight face when they are both in the same room.

Curry's game and physical makeup is very similar is very similar to Luther Head. Why doesn't anyone dare make that comparison?

I look at Chris Paul as a guy who has a tremendous IQ who plays to his own pace. He certainly isnt as fast as he was at WF but he is 5 times more physical--and I think that is Curry's upside. A very smart player who can play at his own pace with the ability to score 20 points dish 10 dimes and grab 5 rebounds. I think you have a very fair argument on what he might be if he isnt capable of hitting his upside because of physical limitations. Curry's upside is much higher than Luther head. If I put LH on Davidson he may not have made the NBA. I don't think anyone can dispute what Curry has achieved on that level on that team. Now is he going to get bigger and stronger and will explosion come along with the extra strength. Will he be able to handle the rock like a Chris Paul--to me questions like ball handling strength and what are his physical parameters? I don't know how anyone can watch Curry and not see his upside as a 1 in the NBA--but at the same time he has question marks on the downside. Thats why hes going 7-8 instead of 2-3.

Luther Head had a good college career and played in a real major conference that went to the tournament as well. Let's really be honest here. If I took away Stephen last name and told you he was a son of a postal worker, everyone would say he had a nice tournament run one year and maybe worth a look at in the end 2nd round the same year he had that run. Nobody would be thinking 1st round forget about any lottery chatter.

Conversely I would venture to guess that if Curry had played point at UNC the past 3-seasons he would be universally billed as the best point guard in college basketball. He wouldn't have had to shoot so much - so his points would be down but with all those options on offense he would have filled up the stat sheet.

On the flip side if Ty Lawson had played for Davidson -- we would have never heard of him.

IMO Stephon Curry will be a poor man's version of Mike Bibby in the NBA... if i'm wrong i'll be the first one to admit it.
