What are your reasons for supporting or not supporting the legalization of Marijuana? I see this becoming an even bigger issue in the coming years as states become more and more dire financial situations do they continue to raise people's property taxes and such or should they start thinking of more inventive ways to raise capital for their states?
Should the government legalize, then regulate and tax?
Or should they continue with the current drug laws?

How is it ridiculous? You pretty much dismissed the Academy of Pediatrics which bases their statements on research across any aveunes to oh, of course they are going say no. You didn't address the 3rd study. And saying that noone says pregnant women should smoke pot, means that the other study has no bearing in a descision to legalize it is idiotic.

I have no issue with the studies but unfortunately for you these are studies that were done on a group of people that most of society would agree should not be using Marijuana or most drugs. As for you third study; it looked at the effects of alcohol and Marijuana together which makes a big difference.

I'm curious if your stance on Marijuana has to do with your actual medical experience, for example have you seen people suffer serious medical problems due to Marijuana use or is your opinion socio-moral based?

Health wise, I don't need any studies to tell me that THC has no place in a human's mind or body. I"ve heard it all, I've smoked it all, I've rolled plenty of blunts and did the bong hits-- it's not natural, it changes the way you view the world, and, therefore, it changes how you react to the world. If you're not yourself, your natural self, when you react to the world then the world is in bad hands.

If by your own admission it changed your mind negatively then why exactly should your opinion hold any credence?

But that's beside the point.

The point is that it is not natural and it has no place in your body or mind. Again, if nature wanted you stoned, son, it would've made you so from the get-go.

Whether or not you can function in modern society is another question. By all external accounts, you can. Or you might not be able to. Regardless, no human can ever reach his or her true potential if under the influence of mind altering substances.

those are relevant points. why not apply the same logic, and lock up people who abuse alcohol? pain killers? i understand what you're saying, but its detrimental to our society to lock people up for mandatory drug minimums.

not only that, but there IS research out there that says marijuana is not harmful, that it does not cause cancer, that it does not make people any stupider, that it has actual HEALTH BENEFITS for people who are sick or diseased. the same cannot be said for alcohol. the way pot is policed, i don't think anybody can say with a straight face that the punishment fits the crime. not to mention the money our government wastes to ensure what exactly? its not like they have prevented people from getting weed. when i was 18 and 19, it was far EASIER for me to get pot than alcohol -- and i'm happy i did! several of my high school friends have died in drunk driving accidents, and one other has been severly hurt while drunk outta his mind and falling off a retaining wall. 11 states don't use their funds to police it and have all but legalized it.

The same logic should be applied to alcohol and pain killers. Never did I say that they are good for you or that they belong in our bodies and minds.

I favor a natural human, one without the influences of foreign substances. A natural brain, a natural body, are the way to get through life. Everything else is a facade. Some people chose to live and die with this facade on, some don't. But the ones that do have no respect or regard for the ones that are trying to go through it the right way-- and this drains the natural society.

If it's not natural then why does it come from the earth? This is not Crystal Meth where I gather up a bunch of over the counter drugs and cook something up in my kitchen. Is Oxycontin, Percocet, Morphoine, are these natural and good for? How do explain completely functioning and successful adults being able to use Marijuana? I think anything absused whether it's prescribed drugs, alcohol, Marijuana, or fried food will have a negative effect on the human body. But I much rather people have the option of going to a safe and controlled place to obtain Marijuana versuses heading to the local bar and downing 10 tequila shots? One you might not wake up from ever and the other you might wake up with twinkie residue all over your face.

i favor a human contributing to society versus being thrown into jail, separated from his family, and, once released from jail, unable to get hired and contribute again. i respect your personal decision on weed and all things natural, having a natural mind state, but as far as looking at marijuana users as criminals and throwing them into prison, i don't think thats good for our country.

someone recommended it earlier, but i highly recommend american drug war. its a great movie, and will at least make you consider the power of the prison industry in this country. they are the main driving factor in keeping drugs illegal -- without that, it would be very hard to fill up the superprisons they've built all over the country.

And I'm not saying it should be illegal. It should be legal, I agree 100% with this.

But about oxy, or alcohol, or crystal meth-- they don't differ at all from marijuana in that they alter your mind and the way you perceive the world. Also, these chemicals are made from naturally occurring elements that have been manipulated, by natural man, into mind altering substances.

Poison-berries are all nature, as are man-eating predators, but does this mean we can let our guard down against them?

Saying there is "no difference" between the three drugs, in any capacity, without carefully qualifying the statement is akin to saying there is "no difference" between a prick of the thumb and a stab wound because they both make you bleed...no difference between a bike and a motorcycle because they both are two-wheelers that can get you from point A to point B....no difference between falling off a curb and falling out of a three-story building.
