Whats up with everyone? Look, he has great potential and we have seen flashes of it even with him injured. I looked at film of him playing in europe and he had some explosive moves. Lets just hope that he can rest up and be prepared next year. Jesus, you would think we were missing out on a championship with all the Gallo smack talk and hating going on here. Give it time hes only a rookie and Walsh and Dantoni have done a pretty good job so far... Incredible job.

On the bright side: There is an explanation for his "only jumpers" mentality and lack of quickness and leaping ability. At 100%, with some explosiveness you can really understand why he was a high pick

On the dark side: His back may eventually explode.

I don't want to sound overly-optimistic but I do think there is just a LITTLE something to the notion that he looked pretty good with a 60-70% healthy back. Now obviously the key is that he gets that back closer to 100% so he can showcase his full game.

After seeing him play I think health is my biggest worry. I don't know if he's going to be a star. There will definitely be players better than him(even some drafted after him), but it's clear that the guy can play ball. But if your back explodes it really doesn't matter how much talent you have.

Back issues are extremely tough to judge if there's no real serious damage of the kind that requires immediate surgery. Gallo may see 10 more docs who all say that he still doesn't qualify for surgery. I have no problem with him getting a ton of rest and therapy, perhaps some different types that he hasn't yet tried, before he ever goes under the knife. He did see some improvement and maybe with the next few months and the entire summer he can fully heal naturally.

If the docs say he has to have the surgery then again it's good that he get's that done early and is allowed time to fully heal and rehab the back and his whole body. Either way there's no rush for him to get back. He's got a long career ahead of him to think about, so what's the rush?

And what if that rooster turned out to be a better basketball player than Lebron James and begged to play for the Knicks for the League minimum. Holy crap!!! We would talk about that forever.

Although first bad game that rooster had, someone would call him a fugazy, cut off his head and serve him for dinner.

I'm really encouraged by the fact that he obviously wasnt 100%, yet he sucked it up and played...and actually played well. This cat has a ton of potential --- the talent is there. If we can get his body to respond, then we probably have a future All-Star.

I'm not discouraged by this news at all. Time to shut it down and get his body right. Boy can play, tho. Thats what matters.

I think the Knicks should extend him now, Knicks fans deserve to see this thing through to the end.

Well Walsh really ****ed this one up with 3/4 serious players behind this kid. He better heal

You mean D'Antoni. This was his pick all the way.

Now I wish the best for Gallo but it's been a long time since that initial "injury" and he's gone no where so any thought I had he might recover has pretty much disappeared.

DeShawn Stevenson recently went under the knife the moment he learned he had the same issue as Gallo. So why not Gallo? Just doesn't want to? Then retire and leave us be don't give us this will he play won't he play will he heal won't he heal crap.

It's a shame really because there are talented players we passed on so Mike could do his old teammate a favor and pick his kid, who absolutely has the skills and tools to be great, but decided to re-aggravate and obvious pre-existing condition (sorry, folks, that fall in SL wasn't enough to cause that, no way. Backs can be fickle but not like that no way no how.)

As to those talented players, who would we have picked otherwise? Eric "Gunner" Gordon? Please....where's that leading anyone? To shiny box scores by 1 player while the team still chalks up losses?

Who should we have picked in hindsight? Don't say Gordon cause I will choke a bitch! Dominant short scorer-only types never win.

now you guys are just being absolutely and totally ridiculous about this.

that rooster that comes out of his exploded back and is better than lebron james is NOT gonna play for the league minimum. it's gonna take at LEAST the MLE to sign it.

This really is great news when you think about it. Now people can use Gallinari's back as a crutch in perpetuity. Right BlueSeats?
