... so what about Gallinari's trade value?

His trade value would be very low at this point. I think in the back of people's minds is the possibility that his back is a permanent issue. For me to make a trade I would have to see him play, at the minimum, a month at 25MPG and look at his performance in that span. He would probably have the highest value with teams that looked at him before the draft, but how can you even have faith in those evaluations based on the fact that he was injured.

Very hard to decide the trade value of any rookie after so few games. What about Beasley or Love? They have shown promise at times, but also limitations. Beasley is a scoring fool and Love a rebounding fool, but will their games ever be complete? I would not give up a Lee for either of them at this point. The guys who seem blue chip to me at this time are few- Rose, Mayo, Gordon, and Lopez seem to have the combinations of skill and smarts I would want. Westbrook is borderline.

As a GM, I could not in good conscience trade any asset of value for Gallinari at this point in time. I might think differently by the end of this season or next year, but I would still have to Gallinari play some significant minutes before I make a decision on his value.

I think we are guilty of overvaluing our players. I think we are guilty of the same thing with Lee, I do think is value is closer to getting you Randolph than it is getting you a Mayo, Beasley and now even Love.
