So what do you do with lee now? He is your only trading chip and you cant get equal value for him since he is a rfa. Someone is going to force the knicks hand and make them make a decision. The knicks should have signed him early but now the knicks have no leverage

I am not saying Lee is better than Bosh but I think taking a guy that gets 15-11 at 10 million is better than 17 million for 23-9 and he doesnt make his team better or block shots. Bosh wouldnt get more in this offense he already shoots the ball 17 times a game vs Lee 11. Give Lee six more shots he is getting close to 20 a game. Sign Lee and get a 5 million defensive stopper, and you still have money for Joe Johnson for a max. Then when 2011 money opens then you go get another player. We dont have a problem scoring we do have a problem rebounding and Bosh doesnt rebound like Lee. Go draft a big or a shooter and sign Lee and a shot blocker

i already pretty much answered this on the Amare thread, but the same answer applies to this one... Bosh will bring more W's to the Knicks than Lee will over the long haul, & he'll also be a bigger drawing card for any potential FA's... our cap situation is fine after 2010 so having either Bosh or Amare on the books at max dollars is workable while still pursuing other bignames down the road (if for example we can't land a 2nd bigname in 2010)

i don't think bitty is saying lee is a post player. but he plays that role on the team as he is the only one in the post getting the ball.

if the knicks don't re-sign lee, maybe they should swing this type of deal: malik + wilson + lee for josh howard + bass...

No but Allanfan20 is...

he made not fit the classic definition of a post player but he is getting better at facing up and finishing down there.

Yeah well Jeffries is better this year at a few things than he was last year...Doesn't mean we should sign him to a longer deal and not pursue a better player...

Jared hardly has any skills. Lee has shown the ability to handle, post up a little bit, face up, he's now hitting his jump shot, improving his defense every day, and is a very good passer. How's stuff like that hard to see?

Is he better off being the 3rd best player on a championship team. Sure, but he still has skills that championship teams need, and that's not including the fact that he's developed into a leader AND there's other ways to get a 2nd superstar. We don't HAVE to get two in 2010. There's good free agency classes right after that too. Giving up Lee just for capspace = STUPID.

So you think Lee is good enough to hitch to a Superstar to make a run at a Championship as the number 2 go to guy?

Will you please re read my post?

Bosh is franchise player - the put all eggs in one basket deal. Lee is a player to support the direction and vision of a team.
He comes to work; he is there to get the job done.
To be an elite team you need both types. You need a star and a couple of Lee-type players to win it all.
To get a star is not a problem - free cap space, wait, pull big money out of the pocket and you will get one.
To get players like Lee is difficult... Most of the time team had to grow then internally.
We have one and this is a blessing. Why to waste all this luck and effort by trading him away for question marks?

i completely disagree... i think it's the exact opposite... it's rare to get a star franchise stud to build around, u usually have to draft one & groom them from scratch... getting very good role players like Lee can be done through free agency a lot easier.

I think you are looking at 8-10 million for Lee. Walsh should have signed him in the offseason to a deal that was a mistake.

However I don't see Lee going to the Grizzles, the Blazers don't have cap room, the pistons may look to add lee, but i don't see Dumars giving him a big deal. Dumars btw has been a terrible gm lately. The only team I see making a big play for Lee could be the thunder because they have a great young core of talent and he would be perfect in that line-up.

Lee has improved something in his game every year and is only getting better, it's realistic to expect 18pts 12rbs next year.

I don't think you are going to see crazy money thrown at the kid. Does he really become untradeable at 9 million per???
