Guys, I had a hell of a time the past two days... I'm in DC, so yesterday I went to Oprah's inauguration special. Htat was cool. I had tickets to the inauguration, but that didn't work out so well. The cops ****ed it up, and me and a lot of others didn't get through security. They blocked the ****ing thing off... it sucks, but I felt really, really, REALLY bad for the old black ladies that made the trip from all over... one guy was a 30 year Navy vet that flew in from Hawaii... I'm mad, but it ended up all right because I bonded with strangers... we were all huddled around people's speaker phones and I met a lot of wonderful people. There were quite a lot of "LET US IN" chants, and the damn police closed the gates on us for their safety... for a minute I feared it was going to turn into a Black Friday Walmart scenario, but everyone there was peaceful and we made the most out of a lousy experience. This one beautiful black girl (I wanted to ask her to dinner but both our families were around) came up from the South to shoot a journalism story, and she was worried she wouldn't get one. I saw her filming all of us around the cell phones later and went up to her and said, "not what you wanted, but it looked like you found your story" and she started to cry because it really was a touching scene.

Sorry for the ramble, but I thought y'all would enjoy my babble (for once)

that's a good story thanks Supreme

Being There

Nothing Obama could have said, not even a speech that moved the estimated 2 million plus to tears, could compete with "whop-whop-whop-whop" of the rotors on Marine One after the Bushes waved good-bye.

A joyful noise spread through the massive sections of tens of thousands who spontaneously erupted into the classic Chicago sendoff:

Nah-nah-Nah-nah
Nah-nah-Nah-nah
Hey-Hey!

Good-Bye!

it's easy to laugh. Have you EVER considered the possibility that the leaders of our country knew exactly what they were doing in starting two wars? Being the sole superpower is a difficult position to maintain, and it takes some good ol' fashioned 'getting your hands dirty'.

Our leaders cannot trust the general population with this knowledge (for obvious reasons?) because it wouldn't understand. Simple as that. As was proven in WW1 and WW2, we have used these white lies for the greater good of the nation; entering both wars under 'sketchy', media-hyped events. Both wars proved beneficial for this country- if at the very least only in weakening the Old European powers.

There is nothing wrong with this, and I fully appreciate these great men, such as President Bush, for having the BALLS and vision to handle these situations, make these decsicions. Next time you think about dissing Mr. Bush, be aware that you are dissing your nation- whether you realize it at this point in time or not.

There was a time when American citizens respected their leaders. Whatever happened to that?

LMAO!!!

Knicksfansince94 - you funny.

Here is a quick PTI fact check

1. of course it would sound "over-dramatic" to someone who was not there.

2. "explicitly biased" take on Bush? Tell that to the 1.8 million people who waved him goodbye and the rest of the world that finally exhaled

3. Young? No doubt. Young enough to have been in DC for The March on Washington

4. Bush was an idiot. If you have any evidence to the contrary, I would welcome your presentation of facts that contradict the obvious.

5. The Knicks are 1-0 during Barack Obama's Presidency. I'm wid that.

Martin - the crowd at the HBO Concert on Sunday was larger than the March on Washington.

My lasting memory of that hot August afternoon was not the speeches but listening to Marvin Gaye's "Pride and Joy" on a transistor radio.

Barack's intellectual cool reminds me of Marvin's sixties soul-cool.

Danilo Gallinari wears number 8 and Obama was elected in 08.

How cool is that?

Obama Gets a Thumbs-Up for His BlackBerry

By Jeff Zeleny NYT

President Obama won the first fight of his presidency: He can keep his BlackBerry.

A ruling has been reached among the president’s advisers – and the Secret Service – that will allow him to keep his e-mailing device. The decision is set to be explained this afternoon at the first White House briefing of the new administration.

For two months now, Mr. Obama has been waging a vigorous public relations campaign among his aides and his minders to keep his BlackBerry, which he has relied upon for years. He insisted, officials said, that they find a way to allow him to step into the modern age and stay in touch with a small circle of associates.

He wouldn’t take no for an answer, even though he was dubious only a few weeks ago when he spoke about the topic in an interview with CNBC and The New York Times.

“They’re going to pry it out of my hands,” Mr. Obama said.

Throughout the transition, several of his aides talked openly about Mr. Obama’s obsession with keeping his Blackberry. And some of them, when speaking privately, said they were eager to have his device taken away so the case could be closed.

But Mr. Obama won and is likely to become the first e-mailing president.

11. Comment: "FINALLY! A president that’s SMART!"

I'm sure there are a lot of people who can't wait to hack into it.

I'm assuming Obama and the Secret Service have agreed to limit the level of info that will be transmitted on his blackberry.

Knicksfan94 - The President has always stated his preference to keep contact with the outside world via his PDA.

How would you feel if someone said you could not use your computer or cel phone?

Hell, he's the President.

Who is gunna tell him he can't do something?

I just hope he can get in a decent three-on-three (or full court with da fellas) at least twice a week, just to remain sane - despite all pressure to be perfect in fixing all the damage Bush left behind.

Charles Barkley is available to play forward.

Obama's BlackBerry: First email president

"It's not just the flow of information," Obama said in a recent interview with CNBC. "I mean, I can get somebody to print out clips for me, and I can read newspapers. What it has to do with is having mechanisms where you are interacting with people who are outside of the White House in a meaningful way. And I've got to look for every opportunity to do that -- ways that aren't scripted, ways that aren't controlled, ways where, you know, people aren't just complimenting you or standing up when you enter into a room, ways of staying grounded."

"I think we're going to be able to hang onto one of these," Obama said in a recent CNN interview. "I want to be able to have voices, other than the people who are immediately working for me, be able to reach out and ... send me a message about what's happening in America."

"An off-line Obama isn't just bad for Barack," Podesta said in an opinion column published in LA Times. "It's bad for all of us. The president's ability to reach outside his inner circle gives him access to fresh ideas and constructive critics; it underscores the difference between political "victories" and actual solutions; and it brings the American people into a battle we can only win by working together."
