Its very easy to be negative.

If the player pans out you don't feel that bad because though you were wrong at least he panned out. If the player sucks then you get to say I told you so.

i think it's more that fans have been conditioned to think whatever this franchise does is a huge mistake & that there are always better options out there... i'm guilty of this myself on occasion as i'm sure everyone is other than the most blinded homers... i don't think there's anything wrong w/doubting a move, a pick, or a trade persay... we all have our preferences & are entitled to them... what gets me is the reasoning that people use to justify their doubts sometimes make me scratch my head... seems like people are often saying we shoulda taken so & so on another team, or traded for so & so on another team, meanwhile the people they're referring to have been just as inconsistent as the players that they're doubting or criticizing in the first place... whether we're talking about a guy who is signed as a free agent, or a guy who is traded for that not everyone may particularly have approved of, or a young player we drafted that is criticized & picked apart everytime they struggle, meanwhile those same people bring up guys on other teams like Linas Kleiza, Marcus Williams, or whoever else everytime they put up a halfway decent statline & bemoan the fact that we should have guys like that playing on our team, as if they would have made such a difference... then those people bash anyone who praises one of our own players whenever they have a good game that's worthy of praise & consistently find faults to somehow downplay its significance... it's mindboggling sometimes.

i mean everyone enjoys an occasional "I told you so" post whenever they get a prediction correct... i enjoy it too... some people tho are so obsessed w/being right that they'll lose all touch w/objectivity in order to promote their own subjective opinions & pass them off as gospel... if there were some kind of internet message board award for being right all the time i'm sure most sports internet forums would be more competitive than the sports being commented on.

TMS...this post is as accurate and on point as any post I've seen on here in a long time. This is so true its ridiculous. The idea of trying to be right and one-up the next poster can get a bit extreme at times. Whether its the race to identify the next great prospect, or calling out the first bust.

Prospects on other teams always seem to look better in other uniforms than they do here. I guess the confindence in our upper management, regardless of name, is nill. Whether some posters do this on purpose or not, it does seem like some would rather be proven right as opposed to seeing the team win and be proven wrong.

i was impressed today by Gallinari. I'll say it: I think he should be starting by after the all-star break. he's a dynamic playmaker with a great jumpshot, for a 6'10" wing player, at least. he's got some fight in him. i think he'll be good, so long as stays healthy.

I wouldn't go as far as starting him yet. He still has a lot to learn and he needs to work his body. Let him just dip his feet in the water, get him used to playing NBA defense and reading other NBA defenses. He'll be fine, but no need to throw him into the fire so quickly. Let him be a rookie.

I think D'Antoni will try him in the starting lineup by the end of the season. I'd be surprised if he wasn't starting in March.

That about sums it up

this is true, but after the last 8yrs can you really blame anyone? no one is rooting against Gallo, I don't think. we're just used to trying to talk ourselves into bums like Sweetney and Frye and being let down.

That about sums it up.

You little sissies. I need to protect myself just in case he's a bust.........waaaaah......Somebody call the Waaaaaaaaaaaaambulance.

Suck it up you sissies.

By the way: What was wrong with Sweetney?

Good post, and I agree with it. We have been conditioned by Layden and Isiah to not only assume the worst, but to whine about it incessantly.

I think the best tactic here might be to say "I think he's a bust. I hope he proves me wrong. but I think he's a bust. I think that'll cover all the bases.

During the Isiah Thomas era there were so many complaining on how he collected selfish, low IQ low character athletes that didn't know how to play basketball.

So to change the culture we draft unselfish, high IQ, high character guy who isn't that great of an athlete. Who's character seems strong enough to impact the Knicks locker room in a positive way going toward the future(I don't know if Frye had that type of strong personality).

Instead of being happy about the decision to change the culture of the locker room which people have been complaining about as the reason to why we have lost for the last 4 in the Isiah era. People are now complaining and targeting any flaws he has with his game.

This basically tells me that all the complaining about the locker room and IQ & character and Marbury has been BS that sounded good at the time, but was not actually what believed by a lot of people.

How do you know that he has a high IQ or that he's so strong of character that it would impact an entire locker room?

You really must have been impressed with that 15 minutes of shaky basketball.

How do you know he's a bust based on 15 minutes of basketball? It works 2 ways.

I don't know. How did I know that Isiah Thomas would be the anti-Christ when it comes to the Knicks?

B/c you witnessed him be a douchebag before he came to the Knicks. You witnessed Galinari in no sense, before he came to the NBA.

So why was I one of the few who understood what he was seeing?

It wasn't too hard Isles...He was trying to rebuild into a Championship team with Kurt Thomas as his only trading chip...I won't hurt my shoulders too much patting myself on the back...

isn't it alot more fun to just sit back and watch how he develops instead of microanalyzing every little thing 2 games into his nba career?

Yes, I don't think that Gallinari has done anything that would warrant the use of the word "special" to describe him, that means I'm throwing **** at him.

You weren't blinded by optimism, but at the same time, it took most fans a very short time to realize that Isiah was a bad GM. I think most people were getting sick of him by the time he traded for Mo Taylor. What does that have to do with Gallinari though. My point is you know very little about him. Neither do the people who are blindly optimistic about him. Therefore, it's way too early to be calling him a bust or a star or a middle of the pack player, b/c none of us know.

What I personally know, is that he showed a lot of good signs tonight. He showed he can be a player in this league. At the same time, he showed he needs to work a lot, if he wants to be somebody. It's all up to him.

I like him. I have hopes for him. I have no expectations though, because I really don't know what to expect. Lets see how (And if) he improves after this season.

Fair?

Isles, you have several posts that are throwing **** all over Gallinari including:
Box score numbers from Channing Frye's 2nd game as a Knick seemed solid. 23 minutes, 6 rebs, 2 asts, 0 stl, 1 block with 6 of 12 shooting.

Gallinari is threatening to be another Channing Frye.

Yeah I would say you're throwing **** at him.
