Knicksfan - the funny (funny ironic not funny ha-ha) thing about Nate is his renewed confidence after working through the most serious shooting slump of his career and whether it makes him trust his game with a tad less hysteria and self-promotion.

Certainly, it had to be tough getting picked for a pickup game in Seattle, with guys calling you everything from Webster to Arnold ("whachootalkinboutNate?") to "take yo' tiny tim azz to the baby swings or go play in the sandbox you sawed off shrimp mo'fo..."

Years of constant taunts can make a brotha angry to prove he belongs. If D'Antoni does not strangle him the next time he beats his chest instead of getting back on defense, or dribbles a possession away when he should be looking at the shot clock, Nate could be even more fun in March.

Nate's NBA learning curve has the subtleness of an EKG of David Banner (The Incredible Hulk) while his primal screams release his inner beast.

I look forward to the night Nate rips his Knicks jersey right off his chest after a dunk.

nate robinson is 24 years old. he's basically still a kid in this league and has shown flashes of dominance. why get rid of a player like that?

15.4 pts, 4 rebs, 3.6 asts (only 1.7 to's), 1.5 stls and shooting 43.5%

isn't he the type of player you keep and try to coach? it's not like he is or will break the bank for them.

Strongly agree.
If you are still following the team and reading sites like this, there is nothing, short of your own demise, that is going to throw you off this train.

I agree, in fact i think we can keep him for something around the MLE due to his lack of height.

The thing that limiting his value is not luck of height but luck of brain.
He needs somebody on the court who will think for him - another PG that we desperately need.
And in this situation he will be very very good option to have off the bench.

Nate reminds me a lot of John Starks... a wild card that goes off in some games & makes u wanna hug him, then goes off & acts like a knucklehead in other games & make u wanna pull ur hair out... the difference was we had leaders on this team to keep Starks in check back then in Ewing, Oak & Harper... if Nate had someone he could look up to on this team maybe he could maximize his potential, cuz i think he's got more pure talent than Starks to be honest... i just don't know if he'll ever mature on this team unless we bring in a guy who carries some clout in that lockerroom... i don't think Al Harrington & Chris Duhon are gonna reign Nate in no matter how hard they try.

TMS - excellent point. The Atlanta Hawks are a talented collection of players still beaming over pushing the Celtics to seven games, but uncertain of how to get to the next level because not one of their guys knows what it requires to win a championship.

One of the best veteran acquisitions by the Knicks was a player whose stay was much too brief Terry Cummings. Not Pat Cummings. Terry.

He was on the downside of a productive career but still had something left in the tank. Beyond being known as a consistent frontcourt presence, he was similarly known for his solid citizenry and sterliing character.

While some salivate over Lebron and DeWyane, Donnie Walsh would also be wise to watch the wire for free agents who can not only play a lick, but wise men who know what winning demands - and who also command unquestioned respect in the locker room.

Sure, it was just the Clippers but coming within a rebound and three steals of a quadruple double (in a truckload of minutes without any rest) is a validation of this young mans rare skill set.

I don't want to see him starting in the Western Conference for another team.

I look forward to Danilo Gallinari approaching similar output numbers against the Clippers in 3 years.

33, 15 and 9 is a crazy stat line... and most importantly for Nate... 1 turnover
Alan Hahn: Nate Robinson has been on a ridonkulous scoring tear lately (remember when he couldn't hit Jerome James with a Big Mac in early January?)

duhon is a backup pg. this system is very kind to guards and nate proved that simply by running the point, he could have monster games too - much better than duhon.

Crazy?

Perhaps JW44. That is a good crazy.

Make no mistake about it, 33, 15 and 9 is a Lebron James stat line

djsu - the best stat is the one turnover. Is that a byproduct of the D'Antoni system or a crop circle left by aliens?

^^^ Exactly what I thought. Last proved that any decent guard can put up crazy numbers in this system. Imagen if we have an average point guard????

What ever you see out of Duhon, it would be stupid if in two years if the knicks resign him at 6, 7 or 8 million. He is a backup.

PhillinLA - starting is exactly the thing to tire Nate out and calm his act down

The dude went 52 minutes and wasn't even breathing hard

as stated in other posts...

remember that in the 2007 summer league where nate won mvp he said he had watched a lot of steve nash tapes.

he played like a more athletic nash and some of us were hoping we'd see that.

he never really has gotten a strong shot to run the point, but i think working with mda is perfect for a guy like nate because he is so empathetic to players, which is the kind of approach that provides stability and guidance for someone like nate.

let's see what happens, and i dunno about duhon being a backup point, and it's just the system baby.

it helps, but you have to have the right stuff too.
