Just saw it on the bottomline of ESPN. Buster Olney reporting it.
I'm not a big Tex fan at all... the guy was more interested in playing with the Nationals or the Orioles until the Yankees probably blew him away with money.
he always wanted to play for ny (he idolized mattingly). that's why he came back to us.
haha sure. or the angels pulled out, red sox wouldn't up their offer, and all that was left with the nationals...cue the yanks are the place i always wanted to be talk.money
sorta like how the Muts got Johan last year, eh? cuz the Twins had no choice but to settle for the garbage prospects the Muts had to offer cuz they were the only team willing to pay the fare... at least in Teixeira's case he refused a comparable offer from his hometown team to come play for the Yankees... y'all got Johan last year by default... if either Boston or the Yankees had really wanted him he'd be w/either of those teams right now.
First of all Santana was TRADED, and second the RedSox had an official offer on the table(involving Lester and others) but the Twins CHOSE the Mets offer. I know thats diffcult for you to understand.
The Red Sox pulled that offer before the Twins made the deal with the Mets. Just like the Yankees pulled theirs. That's why the Twins desperately went back to both teams but was rebuffed.
Sure, but I'll believe Theo over you when he said the twins preferred the mets offer over his. Btw, Yanks never had an offer on the table for Santana, NEVER an official offer, just one floating around the media.
Sure, because these baseball officials don't have anything to gain from lying to the media.
No, the Yankees had an offer early on and took it off the table soon after when it became obvious that the incompetent Twins GM was going to play the Yankees, Boston and the Mets off each other as hard as he could.
If it didn’t work in Phoenix with Nash and Stoutamire... it’s just not a winning formula. It’s an entertaining formula, but not a winning one. - Derek Harper talking about D'Antoni's System
