The Knicks had serious discussions with the Warriors about a trade involving Eddy Curry and Al Harrington, but talks ended when Golden State insisted that they receive David Lee in the deal as well.

So the Warriors want to send us a talented but chucking malcontent and they want Curry and Lee? Crazy. I'd rather just cut Curry. At least they should put some lube on it by throwing in Bellinelli or something!

Good luck Mike D'Antoni, 'cause you ain't never seen nothing like this before!

i think BRIGGS is missing the point... Marcus Williams The Great would obviously be the centerpoint of that deal.

ok first off, Nate's not a young star player, so let's throw that out the window right now... he's an energetic 6th man I like like to watch & root for him as much as any other Knicks fan, but $17 million in cap savings is not exactly something to sneeze at... Al Harrington's not exactly a scrub either, he can play... & w/a team of Zach, Lee, Gallo, Chandler & Jamal leftover it's not like a big star wouldn't have any other guys to play with in 2010 if he decided to come here... this deal is a no brainer if ur looking to make this team better in the long term.
OK - you didn't get the real idea of my post....here it is....Don't deal from weakness or in a panic. That is the sure way to give away your assists and get little in return.

We want Al HArrington, not because we are dying to get Al HArrington, and not so we can win this year, but to get rid of 1 year of Eddie Curry's contract. That is it. Period.

As players they have about equal value. Both are causing problems on their respective teams. Just trade them straight up!!! Don't throw in Nate, mainly because you don't have to. You may need to include Mardy, because GS needs a guard, but get something back from GS to balance that. Don't be so eager to send away our assists for no reason, because we may need our assists later....to either make a trade or to play with our coming SuperStar savior.

u throw in Nate cuz we're saving a ton of money by making the deal... what does GS have to gain by making that trade? a fat out of shape C w/a longterm contract? come on dude, get real.
TMS - would you agree to throw in David Lee with Eddie Curry for Al Harrington? Walsh tured them down.

With Marcus Williams we'd finally have someone behind Roberson on the depth chart!

It's a reasonable request by them. I wouldn't actually give them Lee but I said earlier that we'd have to give them a huge sweetner if we wanted them to take on the extra years on Eddy's contract.

Curry for Harrington is fine. If they want Lee, they can give us Randolph.

For Lee also? No. If we get rid of our two biggest contracts, it must be done without adding any of our young future.

I say Nate, Lee, Chandler and Gallinari are off limits. I'll let anyone else go, but not them.
I'll never trust this' team again.

this is the same argument we all had over the summer when those Zach rumors were running a muck... we have to give something to get something in any trade... if cap space is what we're to gain, then u have to realize we have to be willing to give up a usable young asset in order to do so... u can't expect any team to take on a longterm contract of a highly unmotivated & out of shape NBA player for nothing.

i don't include D Lee or a 1st round pick in that deal but Nate i would do... Al Harrington can play, has a shorter term contract & is not out of shape or unmotivated... we have to be willing to make some concessions to get what we want.

I know, as painful as it is, I know. And keep in mind, if we do it like that with Curry, then we'll have to do it with Zach also. Nate, Lee, Gallinari and Chandler? Minus two of these players and what do we have? Chandler and Gallinari? Most likely and you put them with LeBron (which is no guarantee) and we still have to build around him. I don't know if LeBron would go for it. Not to mention, we're still don't know about Gallinari's back either.

We have to some how keep three of the four, while getting rid of Curry and Zach. All just to divide the monster contracts so we can deal.
I'll never trust this' team again.

if we can dump Curry by including Nate in the deal then the need to dump Zach's contract becomes a lot less urgent... in that case in fact i would WANT to hold onto Zach cuz he's got talent & can play... i've never questioned his ability, it was the contract that was my main focus... if we unload the $10 mil due to Eddy in his final year & no longer have to worry about signing Nate to a longterm deal, we're in effect freeing up the cap equivalent to Zach's final year salary... plus we'd still have some good young talent leftover.

I like how that sounds. I wonder what it looks like on paper, transformed into an actual deal? Hmmm.

we'll still need to unload a little more salary to realistically target a big name but it's at least a good start... maybe by then Zach or Jamal's expirings become desirable commodities, or maybe D Lee is moved in another deal? who knows? i don't think Fishlips will ever be tradeable so we'll just have to deal w/him being on the roster til he expires... just being that much closer to being under the cap in 2010 will be huge.

Not fair at all unless they give us one of theyr young players or a first round pick.

Its gonna be so tough for Walsh to make a fair trade...

Well if the Knicks put David the salaries don't match.....is Golden state still under the cap? If so under normal circumstances the trade wouldn't go though so the Knicks should look at it that way.

Trade Lee? Anthony Randolph needs to come too......sheeeet throw in Biedris and Knicks throw in Malik.....just go all out, lol.
