To give anyone on this team a contract would be rewarding them for the 23, 33 and 23 wins the last three years. I think this is a good move let Lee and the team prove they are winners, whats the point of giving these guys contracts if they prove to be losers.

Besides I not gonna give Lee a contract and jepordize a possible 2010 free agent signing.

DING DING DING! WE HAVE A WINNER.

Can Lee defend? If not, his upside is Zach Randolph. Once we overpay Lee, we're screwed. Lee deserves 7mil to start and he should play Defense this year if he thinks he is worth 10+. Players like Lee can be found every year, and in the 2nd round.

The list of players who bring what Lee does that have been found in the second round, so large.

Maybe Carlos Boozer and Michael Redd are recent second rounders who would clearly be on this list.

Any from last year?

And they must be easy to find.

We should trade away our first round picks then.

Name me one second rounder to average a double-double in the last 5 years? Hayes averged 3 pts and 6 rebounds and Millsap 10 and 6 lets see how Lee separates himself even more this year. I bet you think Bud Harrelson was a better shortstop than Jose Reyes. I say Lee is equal to Okur and deserves his kind of money.

so kam how will you feel if the one of the captains of the knicks this year has the talent of a second rounder? Shows you where the Knicks are as a franchise

Yeah we know where the Knicks have been as a franchise. We know David Lee is their best draft pick since Patrick Ewing.

We also have a goal to get under the cap to sign some players in 2010.

I like David lee. 6 years at 50 million is damn good compensation for his skillset.

I sense a great disturbance in the force. Oh that's just Mark Jackson going ape **** over Kam's comment.

When David Lee becomes rookie of the year then an all-star in his second year that will become true. Break out the time machine...

Millsap plays behind Carlos Boozer and Kirilenko. his prodcution is great. Do you remember what Millsap did to david Lee when we played Utah?

oohah do you remember what Lee did against your beloved Udonis Haslem. He averged 14 points and 13 boards and UD guarded him in all of those games. Lets see what Millsap gets on the market and what his production is over his career

That's cool that Lee had a good game Vs. Haslem. I'm all for that.

Lee should be better than Haslem but Haslem has been the better player over his career. When Lee can hit a 15 foot shot like Haslem and plays similar defense he will be way better than big U.

Lee had four good games 15-8, 15-16, 10-10, and 14-14 and I agree he hits the 15 footer he breaks the bank. Millsap has less offensive skills than Lee and you like him

King, again, Millsap plays behind 2 premier forwards on one of the better teams in the league. And I wonder how Lee got all of his points Vs. Haslem when Haslem is a starter.

I have a different idea. Provided that we can trade both Crawford and Zach by this summer, how about we trade Lee (if he asks for too much money) along with both fat ass Curry and Jeffries for another ending contract? He has more value than Nate so maybe we'd be able to do it. It's a big time fantasy but I'd roll the dice to not only try to get LeBron in NYC but ANOTHER superstar in here. Maybe LeBron would be tempted to team up with Wade or Bosh in NYC or you can use a whole combination of superstar pair-ups. Making these trades will allow us to do that.

To be honest with you, fantasy or not, I'd roll the dice with that Lee trade because it's not like we're dealing any superstars. If we have a chance to hit a grand slam HR in 2010, go for it.
Thank you, Rick Brunson.

You're nuts! Oh, and Millsap plays D.

I like Lee more than any of those guys. I want him to clearly separate himself from them.

You cant trade Lee no one will take him now because he doesnt have a contract. Not a pissing contest I cant argue sensibly about david because he is my guy. Say something bad about Tyler Hanbrough and I will do the same crap.

As you should, King. If I was in your position, I'd be doing the same exact thing bro.

I didn't read this whole thing because, well, I just think it's the right move. But can't they still tender him, at least, a qualifying offer?

The tam makes the playoffs, he probably get resigned... but at the very least, they control his rights in the interim and have flexibility down the line.
