? He has been a double double machine since we got him and now that he has a jumper, people want to wait to see him in the regular season? Wow.

If I was David Lee agent--I would ask for the max. I would ask who is more valuable to you Zach or David?

This is absurd. Who is more valuable? We are talking cost, not value... of course Lee is more value... would you pay Randolph the same amount again? Clearly not. Otherwise people would be on this board talking about what a great contract Randolph has... you can't benchmark Randolph as the contract that the Knicks should be dishing out. Chris Paul gets max dollars...Lebron gets max dollars... Lee does not get max dollars... he gets a 3 year deal as a role player... not "the man" dollars on a contender... lets lost the NY-centric view on this... if he needs those kinds of dollars to stay in NY, see what kind of draft pick you can get in a sign and trade for contracts expiring in 2010. Giving Lee max dollars would make him the next Allan Houston...sure you are rewarding a great teamate and good player... but you will make the fans resent his paycheck when he has an off night. Let's keep things in the right ballpark...

I think any good agent would ask for the maximum for Lee.

No harm in asking, I guess. But, I think Lee is more likely to command Drew Gooden money.... 3 years/23 mill. Maybe a little more... but max contract is out of reach... Lee doesn't play defense and I think his '20/10' prediction will be tougher against top starters... we are talking about a guy who has not really started and predicting he is a max contract player because he can now (in pre-season) know down a 14 ft jumper. Still doesn't play defense. I think he is awesome and want to see him continue to develop, but if I am choosing between paying someone like Chris Bosh or Chris Paul max money and David Lee max money... I think the choice is clear... he hasn't even made an all-star team...

Lee is a much better player than Drew Gooden. Drew also has a lot of baggage, which is why he's played on 4 teams in 6 seasons. If the Bulls offered me Gooden for Lee, I'd demand two 1st round draft picks.

Oh God! What a joke! houston wasn't even there to earn the money, that's how good Lee is.

Houston played the next 3 years with that contract and retired for the first time in 2005.

So I guess the answer is: You can't remember what you had for dinner last night!

oohah

I didn't have dinner last night. I fell asleep.

He played 3 years? Why wasn't that nice of him!

What about the next four? Huh? Huh? Huh? Lunatic!

The only thing that blow ever did for us was 'the bounce'. Yeah, the bounce is what got him that 100 million. Do you even remember that?

So you think David Lee is a better Knick right now than Allan Houston was? Coocoo! Coocoo! Talk to me after Lee makes the all-star team 2 consecutive years, makes one of the biggest shots in playoff history, after Lee plays on a team that wins more than 33 games, or scores 50 points twice in a season!

You want to pay David lee like Elton Brand? Coocoo! Coocoo!

Now eat some dinner so you can get your thoughts straight and post me later!

I like David Lee too, but he doesn't walk on water...I agree, and I think he is better than Drew Gooden, but

David Lee
07-08 NYK 29mins 0.552FG 0.819FT% 8.9Rebs 1.2ast 0.7st 0.4bl 1.20to 2.60pf 10.8pts

Drew Gooden
07-08 CLE/CHI 30.8mins 0.449FG 0.753FT% 8.6Rebs 1.2ast 0.7st 0.8bl 1.77to 2.90pf 12.0pts

So, besides a much better FG% and FT%, their stats are pretty much the same. The major difference is that Lee scores off of putbacks... but on a stat level at least, I don't think that David Lee deserves much more than the 7-8m a year that Drew got on a three year contract.

^^^ The spurs don't spend big money on anybody unless their name is Duncan. Manu and Parker are just starting to get into the 10 million range as spurs and this is after 3-4 championships.

But I think Pre-season is a great time. I don't know what to make of Lee, but you have a guy playing for a contract in the pre-season........... you know that is going to lead to maximum effort. I wanna see how things fair when the other team cares too. Does Lee game look like it did in the first quarter with Brand/Dally going a little soft or the end of the game against Evens and Speights.

I think you are a bit fooled by his preseason offensive game. Once the season begin, if he averages 15 ppg with good FG%, then yes, he deserves 9/10 million a year, and I will eat my words about Turiaf being better than Lee
But my guess is that he wont be better than a role player (if playing for a winning team), especially considering his lack of defensive game. So, I would wait till I see him do this in the regular season consistently. I know he will get his 10 boards per game, even Kurt Thomas did without jumping, I just want to be sure that he can do more than that.

What Briggs is saying offer 60 and get it done now. If Lee goes out and get 16-11 this year and is 25 years old, no baggage, and good chgaracter he will get a lot of money. Maxing Brand and Arenas was retarded. One of both will not finish the contract due to injury.

Your sounding more and more like an idiot.

You're the expert!

Now, let me help you out here: It's: You're sounding more and more like an idiot. Not "your". "You're", or "You are".

Your next lesson will be the proper use of apostrophes. Then you'll be on your way!

I'll take this as a "you win oohah, you were right and I was wrong". I accept!

I would wait to see what happens this year with Lee. He's never started a full season, let's start him and see what happens. If he performs out of this world this year and we like him, we sign him, maybe offer more money to backload the deal after 2010. If he puts up stats but we don't think he's our long-term starter at PF then we can try to move him for a top 5 pick again this year.

There's no need to rush anything with Lee. That said, I think 60M right now for Lee is a little high. $50-55 over 6yrs. He's never started a full season. He has some injury issues, that leg issue or whatever it was looked like it took him all of last season to get over.

Though he is playing amazing right now, he and zach look to be one of the smallest but best rebounding front courts in the entire league.
