Meanwhile, as of today, the S&P 500 is 41% lower than it was one year ago.

The elephant is officially in the room; the McCain ticket has abandoned all pretense and are running completely on race.
There's a deeper more dangerous subtext that is creeping into this election, if it hasn't completely enveloped it already. Not only are they practically positioning Obama as leader of his own sleeper cell, but they are encouraging this "Obama is the anti-Christ", villain narrative that will embolden these racists to 'do something about it.' There is a healthy part of that base that will conclude its their "patriotic duty" to take a shot at Obama --- hence "kill him." Very dangerous rhetoric and language has entered the presidential lexicon. But we cant be naive and say we weren't expecting it. Its going to get much worse. Remember, the running on racism strategy has a 100% success rate. This is America were talking about. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R77IJsNceY4 Ol' coon ass, beg massa to sleep on the floor, house boy. The most pathetic scene I have seen in quite some time. Notice how he looks up to McCain with reverence and begs him to continue this modern day lynching. Posted by BRIGGS:Posted by BasketballJones: LOL. "When did you hear about ACORN? Ah, Today" "Palin has conducted more interviews than OBama" The sad part is these people don't even see how race is skewing their views. Anyone who would make an argument that Sarah Palin is more qualified than Obama to run anything other than a hunting expedition is an idiot who has no idea how much racial stereotypes control their thinking. Obama will be the best thing for America because White America can finally see that the world is not going to fall apart with a black man in charge. Maybe then this country can move forward and stop all this racial hatred. Trust the Process

You can't run from your fear tactics when they blow up on you.
http://www.cnn.com At a rally in Minnesota on Friday, a woman told McCain: "I don't trust Obama. I have read about him and he's an Arab." McCain shook his head and said, "No ma'am, no ma'am. He's a decent family man...[a] citizen that I just happen to have disagreements with on fundamental issues. That's what this campaign is all about." One man at the rally said he was "scared of an Obama presidency." McCain later told the man he should not fear Obama. "I want to be president of the United States, and I don't want Obama to be," he said. "But I have to tell you, I have to tell you, he is a decent person, and a person that you do not have to be scared as President of the United States." McCain's response was met with boos from the crowd. When asked about these outbursts, McCain campaign manager Rick Davis said that he didn't know who those people were and if they were there as supporters or to disrupt the rallies. McCain's response to that woman was a disgrace. I'm paraphrasing but he basically said, "No Obama is not an Arab. He's actually a good man." It's as if in his mind the two are mutually exclusive.

I'm supporting Obama, and yes, it seems like Mccain is realing, which is good, and I felt the same as what you feel about that Bonn. However, that woman was trying to say that Obama was a bad person or a terrorist and Arab was her noun to label it. McCain corrected that, but this is a big sign of damage control.
I betcha a million dollars McCain regrets picking Palin. “Whenever I’m about to do something, I think ‘Would an idiot do that?’ and if they would, I do NOT do that thing.”- Dwight Schrute

Hmmm. I'd have to hear it again. Either way, though, the McCain camp could have stopped the spreading of false ideas about Obama's religion a long time ago if they'd wanted to.

McCain has got to be the most clueless person in America. What did he think was going to happen once he started labeling OBama as a domestic terrorist. The Republican base is made up of (1) rich people; (2) pro-lifers; (3) strong conservatives; (4) and nutjob racist. What do you think those racist are going to do when you tell them a BLACK domestic terrorist is going to take over the white house. They are going to riot, plot killings, and commit hate crimes. What do you think black people are going to do once they feel threatened. THey are going to riot and commit hate crimes. So McCain as his lastest brillant political stunt starts the beginnings of a race war in this country. You might think I am exaggerating but if McCain and Palin had kept going by the end of the week somebody, somewhere would have been killed over this foolishness. The lightbulb finally went off in his mind, which is why he is now trying to tone it down and tell people that they don't have to fear an Obama presidency.
People say we cannot take 4 more years of Bush, we might not be able to take 3 more weeks of McCain. Two weeks ago his bumbling almost destroyed the economic package and now he almost starts a race war. Who knows what he is going to do next week. I thought McCain handled that woman quite well. He cut her off and stated for a second time that Obama was a decent man. As much as I want Obama to win, I still have to compliment McCain for doing what he did. I think McCain is appalled at what is happening with this issue of labeling Obama a terrorist because of his name.

Posted by Markji: I agree. I know he realized things were getting out of hand and I commend him for doing the right thing and trying to tone things down. My point was he had a total lack of foresight as to what was going to happen. For someone who likes to stress his experience, I find him shockingly inexperienced when it comes to handling national matters that impact people beyond his base voters. Trust the Process
