Its funny. Palin has such a low threshold for success that when she uses long words like "tumultuous" she gets an audience bump.

Very clever girl. Don't under estimate her. She was speaking 'directly' to middle America. Joe did pretty good, especially after he stopped tripping over his word and slapping his mic a few times. I thought it was a very good debate. Was Joe crying there for a second?

That's the point. If was any other debate, she would be hammered for not directly answering questions. You can always go back to respond to a previous point but you don't leave the asked question on the floor during a debate.

Was that Biden with the tears? Or just a frog in the throat moment?

He was recalling when his wife was killed and he had to explain to all this to his son.

All in all a very good debate. Palin did better then expected all credit to her. But no offence meant, she is kinda out of her league. She was like the 1st year med school kid trying to impress the cardio surgeon.

On Bidens side, he was very cool and collected. CNN mentioned that Palin got some generals name wrong about 4 times, and Biden didnt put her right, left it to the post-game commentators. I also noticed about half way through, Palin tried to get started with some negative BS about Obama saying different things for different people, and Biden just let it slide like a pro. Well executed game plan by both.

Palin with the fluff (thanks DJ, cant get the ugly image out of my head now) and Biden with the facts.

That spike higher than Palin trying to fabricate this notion that she understands America better because she is a mother. Biden smacked her down with his story so quick. Biden was on his game tonight.

How do you know how to win a war, if you spent the most of it as a POW?

I did not understand that one either. What war has John McCain won. This guy finished almost dead last in military school.

LOL, the bar was set so low for her that if she would have farted on stage, people would have said it was an improvement. She is using the new GOP of the week "filter" replacing last week word "Gotcha".

Well Palin did not lose it for McCain like I hoped, but she certainly did not convince me that she is anything more than someone who was able to memorize a bunch of information over the past 3 weeks. She really has no depth on the issues and her lack of knowledge regarding the constitution and how our system works is scary. Bush was the same way. Since he did not understand the constitution, he saw no need to follow it. The fact that she would agree with Cheney on anything is incredible.

A lot of you guys saying she did terrible. Seems to me that she did a very good job. Regardless of lowered expectations, or the perception of her as a fool among Obama supporters, any objective person would say that she did a good job. But than again, objectivity doesnt exist when discussing politics. Im guessing a lot of republicans are pleased, and a lot of Democrats are poopooing and nitpicking for anything and everything.

Tell him GKF.

Fuck this republican democratic bull****. Palin didn't answer a question the entire debate. Much like McCain. They dance around and say catch phrases all day. I'm sick of it.

Bottom line....if you vote for McCain and this 72 year old dude crokes God forbid? Palin is the president?

Obama may not have "experience" but McCain allegedly has the experience.......so much so he chose a retard to be his running mate.

Another bold statement......if you vote for McCain/Palin you are a ****ing retard. Common sense. Nothing to do with any title or category you wanna put me in. Both of them are retarded. Pull out of the debate to consentrate on the economy? What?

I repeat.......you are a ****ing idiot if you waste your right to vote on McCain/palin.

I caught part of this. I have to say that I'm not convinced Palin did nearly as poorly as she was portrayed to have done in this thread. Let's face it, most of this board wants Obama, and even if Palin came out flawless it wouldn't really matter, would it?

I think the country is in a very sad state when the judgments seem to be more based on a popularity contest and which candidate matches *your* party.
Wishing everyone well. I enjoyed posting here for a while, but as I matured I realized this forum isn't for me. We all evolve. Thanks for the memories everyone.

I think you're wrong to say peoples mistrust of Sarah Palin is based on her personality or popularity.

The fact is that the Republican party nominated a totally unfit individual for the second highest office in the land. Whether she is smart or not is almost immaterial to her complete lack of connection to anything outside of small-town USA. That kind of person deserves to be a mayor, sheriff or perhaps even a governor. But VP? Come on. I think she has started to realize that too. Throughout the debate she was at pains to continuously point out that she is main-street USA not a Washington suit. But the fact is that the US, just like every country in the world need Washington to be filled with, well, Washington suits. They are the people ideally suited to the job. You cant have someone whos horizons end with "Gosh I hope Joe at the hardware store manages to sell his house". While those things are important, being in the White House requires a GLOBAL overview of things. Sarah Palin, for all her folksy small-town hotness is not the person for that kind of job.

This is a perfect example of promoting someone above their ideal position. Im sure Palin is a wonderful state legislator. But do you honestly think based on what we have seen so far that she deserves or can be entrusted with more power than people like Nancy Pelosi, Condi Rice, Robert Gates or even John Kerry? These people live in a different stratosphere to Sarah Palin and much as I would enjoy watching her flounder out of her depth, it certainly woud do the country no good at all.
