The ignore feature is broken. Bip, if you want me to fix it for you, just give me your password, and I'll do it for you. Just trying to help you out. I'm a team first player.

Wow. Bip is really piling on the junk posts in his quest for 10,000.

Yet still not one single Alba post.

He has a Euro back so he is out for most of the year. My guess is he plays under 30 games and is the bust of the draft.

At this point it's impossible to know how any rookie's career is gonna go, but I like Gallo's skill set and intangibles. He's just the kind of player that we've ignored for so many years. Smart and team oriented, well skilled as well. Even if he has a back issue that effects him to start this year, if it's nothing permanent I see no reason to be overly concerned. At some point just about any player can come up lame. If he gets his out of the way early and then goes on to have a long career, then so be it.

Similar to the American knees of Oden and Rose, the American hamstrings of Gordon, the American ribs (and now lungs) of Beasley or the American head of Marbury??

Crushalot, you better watch it talking about "the gall" and his lame injury.

Once you get the wannabe mod squad squadron against you , you may get disciplined.

Bip,nixluva I hope I'm wrong about the kid, by why is there so much contruversey surrounding this kid when he hasn't even participated in a preseason game yet.
To me, that's red flag material.

I have said this before- the only reason a "controversy" exists is because the bloody Knicks have never been open about the exact nature of the injury. I don't think this is an injury he had before being drafted (the damaged goods theory), but rather the injury had its roots in the training program the Knicks designed for him.

It makes me think that the Knicks trainers might be partially responsible for the injury- probably because they were overworking him in a attempt to bulk him up for the rigors of the NBA game. The Traylor hits may have aggravated the injury, but I never thought those hits were enough, on their own, to injure someone.

I was wondering when someone would post this. It seems to be avoided like a plague. Here you go.

Who could ever imagine ancient Allan Houston healthier than 19-year-old Italian Stallion Danilo Gallinari? With the once-crippled Houston signing another KnicksNew York Knicks contract today or tomorrow, the Knicks 6-foot-10 rookie likely will be on the sidelines watching the 37-year-old shooting guard when the Knicks open training camp Tuesday in Saratoga.

Gallinari is felled by a summer-long bout with back soreness, still watching voluntary workouts, not playing in them. Standing under the Garden marquee yesterday for a community event, he sounded pessimistic about going full blast at Skidmore College in five days - a development that could devastate his rookie year.

"I'm watching the guys, trying to get my back back," Gallinari said. "I can't say if I'll be ready or not ready. I want to be in training camp, but it will be a long season and I want to take care of my back and not rush."

As Gallinari spoke, a fan walked by and shouted to him, "Bring it hard; we need it." He still can't bring it at all. Gallinari revealed his back first acted up during practices leading up to his July summer-league debut against Cleveland. He missed the last four summer-league contests, then withdrew from the Italian national team in mid-August.

On the contrary, Houston is feeling his oats. He has been scrimmaging with the Knicks for the past two weeks. His addition gives the Knicks 17 players for 15 spots, though Stephon MarburyStephon Marbury remains a strong waiver-wire candidate despite Donnie Walsh's pronouncement he'll be in camp.

This in from Tractor Taylor: "leave me the hell alone. I didn't do it."

That seems to suggest that it happened after the draft which would make me much more comfortable than if it occurred well before. You never know though.

Personally, I've hurt my back about 5 years ago. It took forever to go away. I kept rushing back and paid the price. I decided to wait until it was completely healed before I started back playing sports. It took a few months, but I haven't had problems since. It sucks that the Knicks won't reveal what it is. Without that info, everything is speculation.

Can't we just send this guy to a real back specialist or something and get it straightened out? I mean, let's go here.

Bip, it suggest the kid is not being honest or is in near Marbury mode. The story keeps changing. First he told the press it was the collision with Tractor, then it changed to being an issue because of lack of rest this past year and now it occured during practice before SL. I am down on the Knicks medical staff but like any patient you got to be honest with your doctor. Also if you remember Gallinari did not participate in scrimages only shooting and running drills. So is that where he hurt it during drills. It was a short amount of time before draft and SL pratice. You're right back injuries are the worst. My back still gives me trouble after an not so serious injury almost 15 years ago. Q-Rich is the best example to offer the Knicks. My question is that why come the Knicks didn't take this injury serious in the beginning and why did they allow their 1st round pick to board a plane without meeting with him during the summer to work out treatments.

These are the Knicks. They don't recommend him to outside specialist. The player normally has to do it himself. What I find interesting is that there are no reports saying that Gallinari is treating the injury serious as well. He just seems to be taking time off from contact. Maybe that is the advise he was given from a specialist. But it is troubling because he is only 19 and you would think that 3 months is long enough for him to participate in contact drills rather than watching. That's the scary part. Berman's point about him watching Houston practice is funny though.
