going off on a tangent here....

Anybody follow the Softball team? They just played Japan for the gold today. Japan, with their ace pitcher Yukiko Ueno who I believe pitched the whole tournament, stunned USA with a 3-1 victory. Ueno's fastball has been clocked at 73mph and her change-up at 50mph. Shows you what a dominant pitcher can do against a great team. WOW!

Anybody catch the mens volleyball match.....usa vs. Serbia? What a match!......they play best of 5 I believe. They were in the 5th set game 15.....seriously, I forgot how much fun it is to play volleyball. These guys are monsters. Usa has some big personalities and some really crazy eyed dudes on the team. Great match.......but you serbia was down 14 - 12 with USA having point game and they went out like suckas. The whole game had been high octane and the Serbs let a spike get through untouched to lose the game! Ah man! I was almost late laving for work watching this game!

EnySpree...I didn't know you played volleyball! That is really Martin and my main sport. Check out any of the womens action? I found a vball girl for you.

lol... at least the guy knew to say "Asians" & not "Orientals"... that's some funny ass sheeit... i had something similar to that happen to me too... 1 of my coworkers (supposedly college educated) would even ask me ridiculous things like "so what's the difference between Korean & Chinese other than being different countries?"... for a second i thought she was joking around until i saw the look of sincerity on her face, & then i felt sorry for her for having grown up not exposed to different cultures & being so ignorant on such matters... i didn't take offense tho cuz i knew she didn't mean any racism by it.

but then, most Asian countries are homogenous cultures so there's a lot of ignorance when it comes to how they percieve people of multi-cultural nations also, especially among the older generations.

btw, i never knew there were so many Asians posting on this board... i thought it was just NYKBocker & me (& islesfan when he was around)... UK ASIAN MAFIA representin'

Great post. Ignorance is everywhere. It's not just Spain, it's not just the US. In every country they hate or are ignorant about the people in some other country. It's just a fact of life.

I went to Israel this year and walked throught he Muslim quarter in jerusalem(well part of it at least. I'm open minded but I"m not stupid) and everywhere I walked there was some Arab guy making gang signs at me and sayign things like "yo, yo my nigga, let's go smoke a fatty" and every other thing they see in US movies and television.

Im happy you beat Argentina to have my best possible final. Guys, I cant stand Carmelo Anthony's lack of maturity and respect for the game and the players that he has showed during the Olympics (well, he has always been an idiot IMO anyway). I wish Nate played for Spain to punch him in his face to end his stupid arrogant attitude. He should learn something from Kidd and Kobe. So my only wishes are that you win by less than 30 and Carmelo plays bad.

Sadly I wont even be able to watch the game, Im going to the beach on Sunday morning for the first time in 10 years (thats what happens when you make plans earlier than you should).
