Granted, Isiah & Dolan crapped this organization big time, but every other team it seems is making deals and adding picks and what did we do? Grade him - A B C D F INC (incomplete)

B - they got a guy they wanted bottomline & made no horrific Antonio McDyess/Zach Randolph type trades... our team is improved bottomline... to fault them for not being able to work out some huge blockbuster trade when they were left w/the crap Isiah left behind is ridiculous.

You think they were incapable of moving up one or two slots to grab Mayo? They almost assuredly should have known that McHale was set on getting Love (Oh boy, what an idiot)

no, i don't think they were incapable... i think they were in discussions to do just that but for 1 reason or another it didn't happen... can't fault Walsh for that... i'm pretty sure they weren't trying to get cute on McHale, but obviously none of us really know what happened... like i said, if they'd been able to pull that off i woulda given them an A or A+... but i'm not gonna hold that against them because it didn't.

I'm not one to grab the pitchforks when it comes to speculation over draft picks, but I cant help to think that the Knicks didnt make a monumental mistake. As time passes and the disappointment subsides, I'll get behind Gallinari and hope he makes the most of his potential, but as of now the wound is too raw.

A bit of aggressiveness and ingenuity could have landed us a top prospect. I'm sure of it, given the Minny/Memphis deal

Its pretty obvious to me, people have a problem with this pick because he's not american. What else could it be. Regardless of who we picked at 6, that prospect would have major question marks. I dont think you can say with conviction, that any propect below him has a bigger upside.

And this bogus idea that he is an unkown player is a joke. I bet half of this board never seen Anthony Randolph, Bayless, or Jordon play more than 2-3 games. The difference is, they are american, we're more familiar with thier names, and they playe in the NCAA.

The Euro league has better competition than the NCAA. The Euro league is full of professionals (the same pros thats been beating out olympic teams), and former NCAA all americans. I doubt players in the Big ten or SEC play agianst the caliber of players Galinari played against on a nightly basis. Besides, I think playing in the Euroleague will make Galinari just as ready as anyone in the draft to step right in and conrtibute.

He's 19, I doubt he's done growing. You can't look at this pick with an eye on our current team. I'm sure more moves are on the horizon.

If his name was Dan Gillery, and he played for UCLA or Kentucky and displayed the all around skill we have seen on the numerous videos, I'm sure no one would have a problem with this pick.

Yep, you just nailed it. Unless he turns out to be the next Dirk Nowitzki in year 1, he is already a flop and a bust. Whereas stiffs like Brook Lopez and Love will get a pass for being role playing scrubs.

People are being unfair about the "buying picks" thing. Seriously, all you can offer is $3 million. Well, it might be that 10 teams offered $3 million for a first rounder, but the selling team only has a single first rounder to provide. Generally, if that happens, there are multitudes of reasons why they might prefer to sell it to another buyer than the Knicks. Simply assuming that the Knicks aren't trying to buy picks could be very wrong. I wanted to point that out.

"he's basically going to be a KVH clone but maybe with more heart"

Which to me would be a home run at pick 6. KVH was a 20 point scorer, good FG%, 8 rebs a game, could go in, go out... he was a heck of a player. The one knock was he wasnt clutch and played scared in big games. If we got a play like that, but with balls who wanted the rock during the 2 minute drill we just got a HUGE building block for the next 10 years no?

And Jay.. why are Bayless, Gordon, etc better? undersized shooting guys who were volume scorers in CBB have more upside than him in the NBA? During Walsh's history in the NBA has he whiffed nearly as bad as you suggest?

Totally agree on KVH. That would be a home run.

Van Horn had pretty developed low post skills as well... dunno if Calamari will be that type of player based on what i've researched & heard... we'll see i guess... i still say he's gonna be like another Toni Kukoc.
